The Monthly Milestones Series

July saw the CYFOR Group team celebrate 5 years at our Manchester HQ, Benjarron House. We all enjoyed an office party commemorating the day, alongside a visit from The Woodfired Pizza Company, cake and plenty more.

It was also in July that the Group announced the opening of our new Leicester based CYFOR Forensics | Digital Evidence lab. After months of meticulous planning and hard work, we were thrilled to announce the grand opening of our state-of-the-art facility at the start of July.

Threat Watch - Our Breach Breakdown Series

Breach Breakdown ????

This month witnessed a staggering number of breaches. Alongside this, we launched our weekly series titled 'Breach Breakdown', which covers everything related to data breaches, cyber attacks, and more. It was throughout July that we observed attacks spanning the globe, impacting:

  • CrowdStrike - July witnessed what is now being called the 'worst incident in history' due to global IT outages linked to a problematic CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor update. For the full report, click here.
  • GitHub - The platform's extensive community and features have attracted threat actors who, this week, were found using a network of 3,000 fake accounts to spread info-stealing malware via repositories and compromised WordPress sites. Each account had a specific role, such as phishing images, phishing templates, or directly distributing malware. Read more here.
  • HealthEquity - The US fintech company revealed a data security breach that, while detected in late June, began in March and affected 4.3 million individuals. The breach compromised personal information including addresses, phone numbers, and payment details. For the full story, click here.
  • Disney - Cyber Press researchers discovered 1.1 terabytes of leaked data from Disney's internal Slack on data leak forums. The data was released by the hacking group "Null Budge" and includes a 10,000 channel data dump. Learn more here.
