We hope you’ve been enjoying some fun in the sun this summer. The GOCO team and partners sure have!
Our regional officers have been touring across the state to check in with existing partners, connect with new ones, and learn about project opportunities. And they’re not done yet! See upcoming events here, and don’t forget to check back for new dates as they’re confirmed.
The Colorado Lottery recently announced the winners of its 2024 Starburst Awards recognizing excellent use of Lottery funds for recreation and conservation projects. GOCO is proud to see so many partner projects on the list, including Panorama Park in Colorado Springs (pictured above) which won the Lottery’s first-ever ‘People’s Choice’ award.

Where Do You GOCO - Recently completed projects
In recent months, 8 projects crossed the finish line representing over $3.8 million in GOCO investments into local communities across the state. With the help of a GOCO grant, The Conservation Fund, along with the Town of Castle Rock and Douglas County, permanently protected the 682-acre Lost Canyon Ranch (pictured left). The property represents the largest one-time purchase and protection of open space in Castle Rock’s history and ensures the preservation of a wildlife migration corridor and a prehistoric archeological site.
CPW seeks SCORP feedback
Colorado Parks and Wildlife is seeking public feedback on the draft Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan. It lays out a five-year strategy to ensure that Colorado’s outdoor recreation opportunities remain outstanding into the future while addressing challenges like climate change, population growth, and habitat loss. The deadline to provide feedback is Aug. 6.
Generation Wild’s ‘How’s it Growing’ contest
Generation Wild is continuing to distribute free packets of expert-approved, native Colorado Wilderflower? seeds to help our pollinator friends and get kids outside. Through Aug. 25, you can grab yours at your local public library or Little Free Libraries. Share a photo planting your seeds or how your Wilderflowers are growing and tag @GenerationwildColorado and you'll be entered to win a sweet Bee Team prize pack.
$1.2M available in youth corps grants
Got stewardship needs? GOCO and the Colorado Youth Corps Association have announced up to $1.2 million in funding for land trusts, local governments, and Conservation Trust Fund special districts to hire conservation service corps for outdoor recreation, stewardship, and restoration projects. Projects may include trail construction and maintenance, invasive species mitigation, wildlife habitat improvement, and more. Final applications are due Aug. 14.

The Colorado Open Space Alliance (COSA) invites you to its 2024 conference in Grand Junction taking place Sept. 29- Oct. 2. Submit a proposal for CPW’s Colorado Wildlife Habitat Program
Proposals are due by Oct. 10
Colorado Parks and Wildlife seeks proposals for its Colorado Wildlife Habitat Program?offering funding for landowners who wish to protect wildlife habitat on their property or provide wildlife-related recreational public access. Up to $11 million in this cycle is available for projects protecting riparian areas and wetlands, big game migration corridors, habitat for species of concern, landscape-scale parcels, and more.
