July, August, September were a HUGE few months for me.

July, August, September were a HUGE few months for me.

Greetings from Troy,

Realistically? I’ve fallen off sharing these monthly updates.

Folks told me they really liked them.

I had new projects land on my lap.

I flew to Canada for the summer and the rest is history ...(literally, it’s in the past now…)

I’ve recorded a ton of videos, and that takes away from my written content. So, here’s the insider scoop on what has been going on in my world.

The Month of July Recap

July, I went to Canada, and spent 3 weeks in my hometown. Winnipeg, Manitoba.

  • I decided to take some time off and “reflect” on this whole thing I’m building. At that point I had been sprinting for 6-7 months building Internal Success and re-igniting my consulting practice. I was tired.
  • Kind of seemed like this “forced” vacation, where I just spent the last half of a year working and building here in LinkyLand and all the sudden I was in Canada, having a campfire in the countryside in the forest.
  • I reminded myself that rebuilding something takes time, effort and energy. I’ve sold a handful of services, and I will sell a heck-ton more if I just stay in the game.
  • I had this grandiose vision to film videos like crazy in July, that didn’t really happen. I didn’t have my office, a quiet space and it was hard to get it all sorted out.
  • I made a new group of entrepreneurial friends in Winnipeg, and I mentored a handful of young tech startups that were building and developing software and services.
  • Fitness and health was on point most of July, pre-prepped meals, gym 3-4x a week and 10-15k steps almost every single day.
  • Spent time with my family, went on adventures with my nephews. That was fun.

July Reflection

Going back to my hometown is always a bittersweet experience. I enjoy spending time there and reconnecting with family but I'm always reminded of why I left.

After all those years growing up in Winnipeg, the people are really what makes it a special place.

I'm really happy I took some much needed downtime, next year I'd like to plan a handful of bigger dinners and events. Might be an easier way to 'reconnect' with everyone all at once instead of doing 100x coffee meetings.

The Month of August Recap

In comes August, and I’m flying to Alberta to be with Alecia

  • I like Alberta, it’s a fun place. Alberta is like the Texas of Canada. Cowboys, farmland, oil rigs and big trucks. It’s a capitalist's heaven.
  • A big pain wrapped around my right hand side and into my gut. It felt like my appendix or kidneys were a little out of whack or something was wrong…(Newsflash, it was my mid back! I wasn’t dying.) I took a few weeks off the gym.
  • We stayed at our close friend's house, super gracious for them inviting us into their home. We were in a tiny town of about 5000 people so there’s not many accommodations available.
  • Leads picked up in July, and I had a ton of prospecting work and deal development. I took client calls, and delivered a handful of reality shifter sessions for them.
  • I played a ton of Cribbage with my friend in August, we spent time at the lake and also built a home made sauna tent with railway ties and a garden hose.
  • I made a dog friend, Barley. Man she’s cute! We bonded a ton, and I fed her treats.
  • There was a ton of “letting go” I had to do this summer, I missed my office, I missed my routines, I missed the normalcy of being in my home. I missed my physical routines and my back was messed up.
  • My partners Grandpa passed while we were there. It was nice being there with family for her, but it was a pretty difficult few days.
  • End of August, I finally got back to filming again. We made a couple hits, and one video hit 1.2Million impressions. That was pretty cool!

August Reflection

I like Alberta a lot. If I were to ever live in Canada again, it would likely be Alberta.

It's pretty crazy what physical pain can do to us, it can be debilitating.

I think the pain forced me into more of a letting go state, so I could spend time reflecting on everything and my upcoming next steps I need to take.

The Month of September Recap

  • These cold mornings are pretty rough. I’m not used to this.
  • More client calls, I feel like I’m getting a bit of a routine again!
  • I gained a TON of clarity on direction, and what I’m building with Internal Success and my consulting. Version 2.0 feels REALLY good, and aligned.
  • The Bill Skit was born…! Lol...Through a video hitting in August, I had a BIG insight in regards to why some videos hit, and some don't. It comes down to a consistent format that you can innovate from. One that is naturally "sticky" to begin with.
  • Positioning, Content ecosystems, Product ecosystems, Manageable growth…I like that!
  • Started the Internal Success redesign, I figured since we’re almost 1 year in…what better way to celebrate than a nice new facelift?! Coming soon.
  • Redesigned the Steal My Proposal Template and transformed it into the 7 Page Pitch that folks can use to impress upon prospects and future clients.
  • Started REALLY digging into the stories I tell, and realizing how important this is. Not just storytelling, but the RIGHT kind of stories at the right time.
  • All the sudden end of September rolled around, and it was time for us to head on back to our house here in Playa Del Carmen.

September Reflection

What a month September was, a whirlwind of packing our suitcases and figuring out our flight path back home. Leaving is always bittersweet, and getting back home is always enjoyable.

I have a TON of work to do in Q4, and I'm excited about it all. For me it's re-finding a production and creation balance. Filming, writing, editing and publishing. It takes serious work.

If you read this far?

Thanks for reading.

It felt GREAT to re-write this recap. Reminding myself that I write as much for myself and my own processing and personal development as I do to share with others.

Anyway, how was your summer?

Do anything fun? Let me know.

I'd love to live vicariously through ya'...

On your side,

Troy

Sounds like a great summer! Glad you got a little bit of time off as well!
