The Health and Care Analytics (HACA) 2024 Conference was an outstanding success, bringing together data professionals from across the healthcare sector for two days of insightful discussions, networking, and knowledge exchange. Hosted by Midlands and Lancashire CSU, the conference not only highlighted the critical role of data in healthcare but also set a new standard for collaboration and innovation in the field.
The conference agenda was diverse and compelling, featuring keynote addresses from esteemed figures such as Sir Andrew Dilnot and Anita Charlesworth. Their presentations underscored the evolving importance of data in public health and its profound economic implications. The sessions were equally engaging, covering cutting-edge topics like geospatial technologies for disease mapping and the use of automated natural language processing (NLP) systems in suicide prevention. These discussions illuminated the transformative potential of advanced analytics in addressing some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare today.
One of the standout features of HACA 2024 was the sharing of case studies and success stories, which provided attendees with practical insights into the real-world application of analytics. These sessions were invaluable, offering frameworks for overcoming common challenges in data integration and usage. They demonstrated how effective analytics can drive tangible improvements in healthcare outcomes.
In addition to the formal presentations, the conference served as a vital networking hub. Attendees had ample opportunities to connect with peers, industry leaders, and potential collaborators. These interactions are crucial for professional growth, offering pathways for future collaboration, mentorship, and career advancement.
AnalystX’s involvement in the conference was particularly noteworthy. Their active participation—from planning to exhibiting—highlighted the importance of community building in healthcare analytics. Their commitment to open access, resource sharing, and professional development was evident throughout the event, reinforcing the need for continuous learning and adaptation in this rapidly evolving field.
Overall, the HACA 2024 Conference was a significant milestone for the healthcare analytics community. Midlands and lancashire CSU deserves hearty congratulations for hosting such a successful event. Their efforts have not only advanced the field of healthcare analytics but also strengthened the sense of community among professionals. The insights and connections made during these two days will undoubtedly have a lasting impact, setting a positive trajectory for the future of healthcare analytics.
Workforce professionalisation
July has been an amazing month for all things professionalisation.
Andy and Harveen have been busy running focus groups for the AnalystX Observatory. Over the last two years, the AnalystX Observatory Survey has begun to dig into the skill-mix and challenges within the Data and Analytics workforce in health and social care. This has provided fascinating insights into the differences between teams, but also the common areas of challenge around recruitment and retention of staff. A massive thank you to everyone that has joined those sessions and given their insights.
