July Auction Personal Preview: Robert Latuszek, Research Cataloger

Any time we have something by Salvador Dali in the auction, I’m excited. I’m an artist too and my style is strongly influenced by surrealism. I like the Dali “Visions of Chicago” suite in this month’s auction because I’m also a Chicago guy. I identify with both the subject matter and the artist’s process. Dali’s work is not confined by symmetry; it’s all about getting an idea out of the mind and freely communicating it on paper or canvas, quickly and in the moment when the inspiration is there. Of course, there’s follow-up embellishment to evolve the idea, but the core of the piece is the purest form of expression. Explore the July 23rd auction catalog.
