July 26th?

July 26th Committee Vote Will Mark Key Step Toward PBM Accountability, Lower Costs for Taxpayers and Patients

Over 30 years ago when ProCare Rx was founded, it was 'transparent and pass through".

I have had many of my friends and associates ask me what I think about all the attention towards potential legislation directed towards the "broken" prescription industry.

For me this is one of the most exciting times for the PBM industry. We all should be compensated commensurately for the value we add to product or service. The exposure that is unfolding in the PBM industry shows that the main players are not focused on managing a prescription benefit for the patient or the sponsor. They are focused on managing the benefit for their profitability. The bottom line.....They do not add the value to the process that they are taking financially!!

We at ProCare Rx and affiliated companies always have and always will be focused on managing care and cost with the patient and sponsor at the nexus.

-Biggest Contributions to Savings-

  1. "We focus on lowest net cost with the highest level of efficacy". Not long ago I was working with a 90,000 life group that was fixated on the rebate they were receiving. Saying "our PBM pays us more each year in rebate than they guarantee". As we looked at our analysis, our proposal would pay them $2m less a year in rebates, but it saved them $7m in drug costs by focusing on a lowest net cost formulary.
  2. "We are transaction based in our compensation not spread based". We pay the pharmacy a fair price for the medication and you pay that exact price. You pay us a PEPM, PMPM or Per Net Script.
  3. "We do not own our own pharmacy". The egregious examples of $10k plus prescriptions mandated to be filled through a PBM's mail order vs. $26 at a local pharmacy. Does that PBM have your interest in mind as a plan sponsor.
  4. "Cost Savings programs that produce a 22% to 50% savings annually" Do you have a PBM partner that is constantly looking for ways to save you money?
  5. "Direct Source" - What does this mean? Let's talk and discuss why only a few PBMs can make this statement. With over 100 PBMs in the market place today, let us show you why our technology foundation and direct contract do make a difference.

Crazy enough, I have been working in our independent pharmacy helping through staffing issues and the PBM reimbursement is insane. Majority of meds are a loss for the pharmacy. We aren't even filling GLP-1's because of the loss.
