July 2024 Summer Camp Success
Jeff and I left Florida on July1st for a familiar destination...my hometown of North Tonawanda, New York! We drove for three days, spent time with family, held a five-day intensive Character GPS Summer Camp for Youth and then drove back home to FL over another three-day period.
Our successful Life & Leadership Training Camp was sponsored by the North Tonawanda Parks and Recreation Department with our dear friend Director, Alex Domaradzki. It was the third GPS Camp we have held there. We equip Kids with Tools and Education they can apply for the rest of their lives. This class of students was the youngest group we have had in North Tonawanda, ranging from 3rd to 7th grades, but it was special for another reason too!
Current Mayor, Austin Tylec, surprised our students at their Character GPS Graduation on Friday, July 12th, with North Tonawanda Anchor Pins! Our students dedicated five days of their Summer vacation to building their character and the Mayor wanted to recognize their hard work and potential to be leaders and "Anchors" of the Community! North Tonawanda uses the anchor as it's symbol.
The symbol of an anchor actually has a lot of meaning and is very relevant to the leadership training that we provide. See pic below:
Particularly meaningful to me is the "Reminder of One's Roots and Origins"! Having our Camps in my hometown is a way for me to "Give Back" to my birthplace and as Jeff and I do everything together, we are giving back to my hometown, helping to build future leaders and help families!
