Redesigning Retirement

harvardbusinessreview.com

In "Redesigning Retirement," authors Ken Dychtwald, Robert Morison, and Katy Terveer emphasize the urgent need for businesses to rethink their approach to older workers. As companies face unprecedented talent shortages, with 77% reporting staffing gaps, and with significant numbers of Baby Boomers reaching retirement age, there's a critical opportunity to leverage the experience and skills of older employees.

Key points from the article include: Talent Shortages, Aging Workforce, Strategies for Engagement and Global Trends.

By embracing new strategies, businesses can create a win-win scenario where older adults remain active and engaged, benefiting themselves, their employers, and society at large.

My thoughts on this article…I see a growing trend of clients seeking meaningful work beyond traditional retirement. ?They see it as new chapter of life and chance to explore other purposes and not just for “rest and relation.” ?I think this is a great opportunity as a great opportunity for both retirement aged individuals and employers to fill this upcoming talent shortage.

What I’ve Been Reading…

Three Details That Matter for a Successful Retirement

kplinger.com

The article emphasizes the critical importance of focusing on details when planning for retirement, drawing an analogy to fictional crime fighter Jack Reacher’s investigative approach. Many individuals overlook essential aspects of their financial planning, rushing to investment solutions without thoroughly assessing their current financial status, future needs, and risk tolerance. Overall, the article stresses the value of meticulous planning and regular reviews of one's financial situation to build a robust retirement strategy.

My thoughts on this article…Small, incremental changes can significantly impact long-term financial health. Creating a “Retirement Plan” isn’t a one-time event...it's a living, breathing plan that should be adjusted with you as your life and retirement evolves.
