From Countering Terrorism to technology!

I’m Jonathan, and I’m excited to share a bit about my journey with you and how some might intersect with your own.

Over the years, I’ve navigated the complexities of countering terrorism, business, sustainability solutions, and now technology, and I’m here to offer support and insights that can help you overcome your challenges and achieve your goals.

A bumpy road

My early journey, summed up at one really bad parents evening in primary school where my parents were told I was going to end up cleaning public toilets if he didn't concentrate.

But it doesn't matter now as so much more has been achieved and there is so much more to do.

I have always had ideas, it's just they were suppressed rather than encouraged and I think that's the first lesson for many. If people have ideas, nurture the person and the idea.

Guide them to help them work out if it's a thing, if it's a real solution to a real problem and if it's scalable or a hobby.

Take my London Christmas Tree Rental idea. This initiative was born out of a desire to reduce waste, you will no doubt be familiar with seeing discarded Christmas trees on the streets of London in January. By renting out living Christmas trees we’ve been able to offer a greener alternative for Christmas, and it’s been great to meet the many customers.

Then came my invention of "The Streeve - a sleeve for a tree,” a bag to help you get the tree home and back again whilst reducing the amount of netting used annually, which incidentally is an astonishing amount.

My journey

Throughout my career, I’ve faced many challenges that have shaped my perspective on leadership, mental health and personal growth whether that be from responding to terror attacks in the UK and abroad, preventing them or even close quarter operational disruption.

Some, but not all for obvious reasons, of these experiences culminated in my book, One Mountain, Two Minds, where I reflect on the duality of challenges and the mindset needed to overcome them. In one word the book is about resilience.

The book came about by pure accident after a really tough six weeks.

And for me, I still refer back to where am I on that mountain, placing myself inside my 6-stage method. It still helps me and more importantly it has helped others who are struggling with a journey, and it doesn't have to be climbing a mountain!

The book fits nicely with my coaching and speaking and the mountain provides an excellent metaphor for those who wish to change.

AGHH. Not that word.

Many will read this word get the shivers or come out in a cold sweat at reading the word change, but it's not the change that hurts, it's the transition and that's where we can help. Personally and organisationally.
