ORISE celebrates National Intern Day ??
July 25 is National Intern Day, and we're celebrating the incredible interns and fellows in our programs — the future leaders and innovators of the scientific workforce!

Keshun Nelson , an undergraduate student studying chemistry at Norfolk State University , is conducting research in direct air capture of CO2 at the National Energy Technology Laboratory through the Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship Program, sponsored by U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy & Carbon Management.
?? As an ORISE participant with the FDA 's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, Radha Vinayak , an undergraduate student at 美国乔治·华盛顿大学 , is focusing on new drug regulatory program advisory committees, exploring the trends and regulatory processes that exist within these committee meetings and how they contribute to FDA’s decision-making.
Future of Science Awards: Nominations due July 26
?? Attention ORISE participants and mentors! ?? The nomination deadline for the third annual ORISE Future of Science Awards is Friday, July 26.
These prestigious awards celebrate excellence performed by ORISE participants in the areas of scientific achievement, professional growth, project contributions and leadership.
We're also accepting nominations for a new award that allows ORISE participants to recognize their exceptional mentors.

Through an ORISE fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , Cynney Walters is using bioinformatics tools to study bacterial pathogens and support outbreak investigations around the world.
?? Meet Naveed Sekender
Through the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Minority Serving Institutions Internship Program (NNSA-MSIIP), computer science student Naveed Sekender?is looking at how large language models, like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, can assist in programming language-related tasks.
