July 1st - Watch the costs of your 'Free' Conferencing Rocket

On July 1st, the new Ofcom rates come in to effect.

These will affect all Non-Geographic services - essentially 0800, 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers that represent about 20% of all calls in the UK.

The good news is that 0800 calls will be Free from mobiles. The bad news is that calls to 0844 and 0871 numbers will rocket by as much as 300% (from a landline) and 150% (from a mobile, depending on the length of the call, of course).

0845 and 0870 calls become chargeable again and all 0870 and 0845 calls will disappear from your bundled minutes.

The cause of the Price increase is difficult to spot unless you have a trained eye, but essentially what used to be a one off connection charge becomes a PER MINUTE Access Charge AS WELL AS a PER MINUTE Service Charge (which have gone up).
