July 16, 2020 - Day 4
July 16, 2020
Today’s centering thought: Through the law of pure potentiality I can create anything, anytime, anywhere.
Today, I gave blood. One of the things I appreciate about working for Johnson & Johnson is the company commitment to helping people, communities, and just being all around good citizens. The tradition of the blood drive is just one of the ways the corporation lives our credo.
Today was particularly touching. It was so humbling to see the volunteers. Donations were spaced out, but they shared that all the spots were full and that donors have been very dependable in showing up recently. What used to be a 20% no-show rate has dropped to 5%. That was great to hear. Thank you to everyone donating.
I also had the chance to see some people I haven’t seeing in months. I didn’t realize how much I miss hallway chatter with colleagues. Now, the only way to really chat with someone is if you call them on the phone or at the beginning of a meeting which really doesn’t count. This was authentic, "good to see you" chatter that I didn't appreciate at one time or another cause I was in a rush. It was nice to see the security guy. It was surreal to see the space with so few people.
It was a pleasant reminder of how it was and what we can look forward to. The “new normal” might not be like “the good old days”, but we’ll eventually have a new set of interactions we can appreciate.
In the meantime, today was a great acknowledgment of those people I didn’t even know I missed. Hello to all of you. Feel free to reach out and just say hi. Watch out for a possible random message from me. It really did brighten my day and maybe it will do the same for you or someone who doesn't know they miss you.
