An alarming trend highlights the urgent need for tailored educational strategies and better support systems for experienced multilingual students. New data reveals long-term English learners (LTELs) in California are underperforming compared to their peers. Only 5.4% of LTELs meet English language arts standards, and just 2.1% meet math standards. Experts attribute this to inadequate support and challenging reclassification criteria.
