SKT is pleased to present the German artist Julia Maier in our ongoing exhibition, Art Is Why I Wake Up in The Morning.  Julia was born in Schleswig-Holstein, in the northern part of Germany. She studied at Muthesius-Art College in Kiel and is currently based in Berlin. SKT is pleased to have her artwork entitled, Dreaming, featured in the exhibition.

Julia is a very innovative contemporary artist and she has a special way of presenting modern media events through her artworks. In a way, her pieces make the viewer to step away from preconceived notions and prejudices and reevaluate the incident and the parties involved. Julia’s artworks are mixed with abstract elements and invite people to look beyond the pure journalistic photograph. Her art presents the viewer with the opportunity to rethink the represented event.

This year Julia has taken part in several exhibitions – she showcased her art online in K?niggalerie as well as physically in “Exlt” Berlin. She also had a solo show entitled, Beach Issue, in the art club Werder. So far, she has had several solo shows in Berlin in the past years. Julia has also been nominated for the art price Violence/Power/Rulers (Gewalt/Macht/Herscher) in Berlin, Worpswede, Bremen, Hamburg, München, K?ln, Nürnberg, Schweiz.

You can find more of Julia Maier’s artworks on her website and her Instagram page
