Juggling three reads: Tolstoy, Jobs, and Lisa
Apologies for my recent absence—it turns out juggling three books at once is trickier than I thought. Yet, somehow, it’s become part of my daily routine, with each book fitting into a different pocket of my day.
In the mornings, I have an hour-long cab ride to work. It’s the perfect time for uninterrupted reading, so I’ve been sinking into Leo Tolstoy’s - Anna Karenina.
There’s something about getting lost in those old, dusty words while the world outside keeps rushing past. sixty minutes of pure escape. And then, boom, reality.
On the way home, I’m crammed into a 45-minute metro ride. The metro is chaotic—standing shoulder-to-shoulder with commuters isn’t conducive to holding a book. So, instead, I’ve been reading the Steve Jobs biography on my phone.
It’s fast-paced and energetic, a fitting match for the buzzing environment of the metro. Even in the crowd, Jobs’ story keeps me hooked—full of ambition, drive, and constant movement.
Once I’m back at home and settled in for the night, neither Tolstoy nor Jobs seems right for the moment. That’s when I turn to Small Fry.
Lisa Brennan-Jobs' memoir about her complicated relationship with her father, Steve Jobs. It’s personal, intimate, and a perfect change of pace for winding down in the evening.
So yes, I’ve been grappling with reading three books at once. It’s not easy, but each one fits a different part of my day, and I’m enjoying the routine.. I’ll be back soon with reviews on all three.
Tell me what are you reading?
