The Juggle is Real: Balancing Recruitment, Career Chats, and Single Parenting
Francesca Milton
Senior Director at Montresor | Legal Recruiter for Business Services and Paralegal Staff
If January is anything to go by, 2025 is shaping up to be one of the busiest years in legal recruitment I've?seen in a long time. Between a booming market, a packed inbox, and running our first Career Chat Open Day, I've?been juggling more than ever- oh, and did I mention single parenting in the mix?
I've?always prided myself on staying organised, but this past month has tested even my best spreadsheets. One minute, I'm advising candidates on how to make their CV stand out, and the next, I'm negotiating with a much tougher candidate: my son, who negotiates bedtime so well that I see a future for him in recruitment!?
But in all seriousness, the pace of the recruitment market right now is exciting. It feels like confidence has returned in full force, and firms are hiring, candidates are moving, and opportunities are everywhere. January felt like it flew by in a blur, but if this is the momentum we're starting with, 2025 could be a transformative year for so many legal professionals. (And maybe, just maybe, this is the year I finally take my son to Disneyland. It really is extortionate!)

Amidst the madness, hosting our Career Chat Open Day was a real highlight. Meeting people face-to-face, hearing about their journeys, and offering advice reminded me just how much knowledge you pick up in this role without even realising it. Sometimes, it's the smallest tweaks- a CV adjustment, a fresh perspective on the market ?- that make the biggest difference in someone's career. It was incredibly rewarding to see that in action and give something back.
So yes, my inbox is still bursting, my to-do list keeps growing, and I'm wondering if coffee should be its own food group. But I'm excited. If the start of this year is any indication, 2025 is going to be one for the books.
