Judging Ourselves

Judging Ourselves

“Butterflies can't see their wings. They can't see how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can. People are like that as well.” - Naya Rivera

In a world, where almost everyone is on social media platforms posting about their achievements, their hobbies, their loved ones; and “Influencer” is a legit career, a lot of people tend to compare their lives with those they see online. Have you ever felt like one of those people??

It is always important to realize that most of what we see online are curated contents that are pre-selected, edited, and then posted. However, more and more audiences are also aware that originality and authenticity are what they want to see. Audiences want to be able to relate to what they see online, to feel included.

Having said that, it is not that we shouldn’t judge ourselves, but we should only be competing to be a better version of ourselves every day. You are your own best teacher. I believe that to be a better version of ourselves, we have to be a cut above. In a world where mediocrity is the norm, people are only willing to deliver only as much as they get paid. But I personally believe that in order to be recognized and better, we should always have it in us to contribute more and add value to outshine ourselves and get recognized.?

I am fortunate to have parents who have been very dedicated to their work and had a great work ethic. My mom, a retired teacher, used to spend her extra time creating new activities for her students from books and newspaper cuttings. My dad was a banker who spent his extra time drawing up plans to train, teach and guide his team to become better. Neither of them was paid extra for doing those things, but they still do it anyway. I did not understand them for a long time, but a phrase they said lingered in my mind. They said, “Always do more than what is expected with no expectation”. What extra things they did has given them the recognition they deserve from their students or clients. I never fully comprehended that phrase until now.?

Adding value is something that you do, in order to be better. Not for the other person but yourself. In my latest video, I share tips on how to outshine yourself and be the better version of yourself. Watch it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzI1URjimGg

Be #INCONTROL of yourself today.?

One Day or Day One, you decide.?
