Judge Everything…All is Good!

My next-door neighbor and I solve a lot of the world’s problems at the end of our driveways.?We agree on many things socially and politically.?While at the end of the driveways the other day he told me a troubling story regarding an observation he made.

He was driving in his car when he saw a man, described by his skin color, throw a Coke bottle out on the street from the car he was driving.?My neighbor made verbal and eye contact with the man.?He then call the man a “pig”.?Then I was told that if the incident escalated he always carries an equalizer, i.e.: a gun.?What troubles me is the use of skin color in description, littering, and the thought of using a gun as an equalizer.

I believe littering is disgusting and where I came from it was a fineable offense.?Yet, I also believe in what my mother told, “MYOB…mind your own business.”?Further, I learned that by the age of twelve most of our behaviors, values, and beliefs are established with minimal chance of changing in adulthood.?We, as individual citizens, have little we can do to change other’s behaviors and beliefs!

The Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have done unto you,” is well known and could be a principle for society.?What about this story above??Should we all be allowed to carry a concealed weapon??Should we air our grievances through the car window while driving??This sounds crazy to me, yet we see examples of this every day in the news.

On the other hand I am suggesting to continue to be informed while avoiding the obsession of creating change in the people who surround us every day.?I scan news headlines daily.?Rarely do I read an entire news article.?Listening to the television news is seldom.?Flipping off the driver who cuts us off is a fool’s game.?Escalating to road rage trying to teach the other driver a lesson by cutting them off is ridiculous.?Changing the habits of one who has always thrown garbage out of their car window borders on insanity.

What I am suggesting to maintain sanity is judge everything and then agree that it is all good.?Even as I typed the previous sentence, there this a calm that passes over me.?We have been told, not to judge.?“Judgement is wrong!”?Yet we make judgements all day, every day.?As children we are told, “Don’t touch the stove, the burner is hot.”?To this day I avoid touching the stove when the burner is hot.?The judgement is to touch the hot burner or avoid touching the hot burner.?We make judgements all day, every day.?As example:

·??????What to wear…is it hot today…cold today…sweater or swim suit…snow suit…gloves

·??????What to eat…food for fuel…food for folly

·??????What to drive

·??????Work or play?

·??????Judgement equals choice

What ever judgement is made, it can ALL be considered good.?What does this has to do with attracting the right prospects and generating more referrals? It’s that our personal values, established by the time we were twelve, can influence our judgements as to:

·??????How we do business

·??????With whom we do business

·??????Continuing to run our business considering variables like:

o???economic/ social environment

o???extended life cycle

o???selling our business

As example,?an employer of heavy equipment drivers who follows the economy closely increases his fleet when the economic indicators tell him to do the opposite.?His belief is that when the economy is poor he can increase his fleet buying new or used equipment at a reduced cost.?When the economy is bad many believe that “the sky is falling” rather than finding a way to create positives in a down economy through calculated judgement.

Finally, we make judgments all day, every day for business and personal decisions.?To continue to maintain good health, keeping our blood pressure at a healthy level, and to avoid getting shot, ALL is good!
