Delivering trusted financial products and services responsibly, to empower people to live the life they want now.
Hi, my name is Jean-Pascal Duvieusart and I’m Chief Executive Officer of Home Credit. Welcome back to my regular ‘Global Reads’ feature where I personally select articles, reports or interviews from global media that have caught my interest. Hope everyone has rejuvenated from summer travels and spent some quality time with the family. Reading this month is a blend of light articles and books that I have been reading during my holidays.
Let me know what features have caught your attention in the comment box.
Wall Street Journal - Quiet Quitting is a new phrase that I learned from my Gen Z colleagues. It means “doing what you’re paid for and not beyond”. It’s a topic that has been going viral on Tiktok and a video post in July by @zaidleppelin gained more than 3 million views. How should organisations connect with less engaged employees? Personally I think that “quiet quitting” is a sure way to personal sadness….. better to really quit than fake 8 hours a day!
IMF Blog - Did you know that by closing the gender workforce participation gap in countries with serious gender inequality issues could supercharge an economy by 35%? This IMF blog outlines a series of solutions to help tackle that gender gap. This is all about investing in human capital, enabling female entrepreneurship and tackling biases. There are no quick fixes it seems, and potentially some philosophical questions too….. but the IMF have sketched out an important roadmap.

INSEAD - Apart from saving carbon footprint and enjoying a shorter commute, a survey shows that CEOs who live nearby to?their office can foster enhanced workplace culture and develop stronger bonds with their employees. This eventually leads to more contented employees and more profits. Maybe it’s time you made a call to your real estate agent…..
The Art of Possibility: Transforming Professional and Personal Life - Quite an interesting and practical view to allow you to think differently, not be caught in downward thinking, see new options, and assume responsibility. This is obviously a best seller but best sellers are often worth the read! Highly recommended.
L'Espion fran?ais - If you speak french and like spy books, this is a book for you. Highly recommended, written by my friend Cédric Bannel. In the end, it is important to read things with no link to work!
