JPC Monthly Rewind: June
Digital Construction Week, London
Our Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team had a fantastic time at Digital Construction Week in London where they not only learnt about the latest trends in digital construction but also participated in some panel discussions.
Miguel Galache, VDC BIM Coordinator, spoke on the topic of how leading contractors streamline construction workflows and our Head of Digital Construction, Ray Blewitt, was a part of the Get Construction Talking panel discussing mental health and its challenges within the construction sector with Fred Mills, The B1M Founder, and Sasha Reed from Procore.
Mens Health Week
We were delighted to have Sinéad Bradbury, who is a nutrition and health coach, visit our Life Sciences Project in Galway during Men’s Health Week to give a talk. Sinead covered topics such as nutrition, exercise, importance of sleep, improving habits and many more and was very well received by all onsite.
Over the course of the week we promoted a range of topics to address all aspect of men’s health, including Mental Health, Health and Wellbeing, Occupational Health, and Physical Health and Safety. Men’s Health Week has provided a great opportunity to put a spotlight on health and wellbeing and raise awareness throughout our organisation and beyond.
Health & Wellebing
We had the inspirational mick loughran on site at Rosslare Europort Terminal 7. Mick shared the story of his life changing accident that occurred 40 years ago, and the knock on physical, psychological and mental effects. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of safety, where he focused on never taking short cuts, eliminating bad habits and looking out for yourself and everyone around you.
On the day we were also delighted to have the Principals from our Supply Chain partners in attendance as we marked a year on site without a lost time accident, while also acknowledging the fantastic progress on the project. Prizes were presented to some very worthy recipients for safety team of the month and SORs (Safety Observation Reports).

Rachel Owens from DCM Learning led an insightful 1-hour session on diversity and inclusion focusing on dignity and respect in the workplace.?One week later we hosted our second 1-hour session with Sue Landsberg, also from DCM on understanding and identifying unconscious bias.
Together, we will keep learning, and continue to make our offices and sites more inclusive. ??????
