JPC Monthly Rewind: December
Project Handover: Abbott Kilkenny
We were delighted to announce the successful completion and handover of the Abbott Kilkenny facility in December. This 30,000m2 state-of-the-art medical device manufacturing facility has been designed to produce life-changing FreeStyle Libre sensors, devices that monitor glucose levels and support people living with diabetes.
Designed to achieve LEED certification, the project reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, while providing advanced spaces for manufacturing, sterilisation, and engineering, alongside offices and support areas.
A huge thank you again to our Client, Abbott, our Design Team, and our Supply Chain partners for their collaboration and dedication. Your efforts were instrumental in delivering this facility efficiently and to the highest standards.
Project Handover: R148 Road Realignment
The R148 Road Realignment was officially opened on Monday 16th December. The project’s success lay in logistical challenges being overcome thanks to strong cooperation from our colleagues at Intel Corporation and within Kildare County Council. This ensured that existing traffic flow was managed, operations at the Intel Campus continued uninterrupted and impact to local road users was minimised.
Designed and planned by Arup this new road, which was delivered on time and on budget through close collaboration with our supply chain partners, promises improved traffic flow, capacity, and connectivity to support the local area for years to come.
NOVAS Christmas Sleep-Out
Our Limerick team, led by Regional EHS Manager Sean Carroll, took part in the NOVAS Christmas Sleep-Out on Saturday 7th December. This marked the 6th consecutive year our Limerick team have supported this fantastic initiative.
NOVAS is a voluntary organisation dedicated to supporting disadvantaged individuals, families, and children - particularly those experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. The Christmas Sleep-Out is their largest annual fundraising event, with all proceeds directly supporting their frontline services.
Congratulations again to everyone involved in raising over €6,000 for NOVAS.

By committing to this transformative initiative, we aim to take ambitious action on climate and biodiversity. Through collaboration with BITCI and other Accelerate Pact signatories, we will drive meaningful progress toward a sustainable future. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eGuF6WJ9

At John Paul Construction, we believe every project is an opportunity to leave a positive impact— not just in the built environment but also in the communities where we work.
Through our Harcourt Square Project with our client, Hibernia Real Estate Group Ltd, we were delighted to dedicate our time and resources to refurbishing and fitting out a sensory room at Presentation Primary School, Warrenmount, in Dublin 8.

This calming, supportive space is designed to provide comfort and aid for children, particularly those with additional needs. We are grateful to Principal Grainne Noone, the dedicated teachers, and the students for welcoming us into their school and allowing us to contribute to this meaningful project.
JPC Quality Awards
We were delighted to host some of our quality award recipients at our head office in December, which gave us the opportunity to come together and discuss the different projects and roles, and their common ground of excellence in quality project delivery.
Congratulations again to all of our winners for their dedication to quality and excellence!
TUD Students at Harcourt Square
We welcomed a group of 4th year Architectural Technologist students from Technological University Dublin to Hibernia Real Estate Group Ltd's Harcourt Square project in Dublin city centre. The students were given an update on the project's progress by our Project Leadership Team, an explanation on the Modern Methods of Construction that are being utilised on-site, as well as a briefing on the Fa?ade with it being one of the first in Europe to utilise 100% post-consumer recycled aluminium. This was followed by a tour of the 44,500m2 site where our Structural Steel frame was nearing completion and the fa?ade works were on-going to several of the building's elevations.
The team were delighted to share their experiences and encourage the next generation to join the growing construction sector.
250,000 Safe Hours at Dexcom
The team on our med-tech project in Galway recently completed 250,000 safe hours. To celebrate this milestone achievement, a Christmas lunch was held on site for all those involved and also included a number of prizes being raffled.
As part of the event, we partnered with our client, Dexcom Ireland - Athenry, to support COPE Galway by collecting gifts and donations for the charity. Thank you again to the entire team who continue to work safely, and we look forward to another productive year in Athenry in 2025.
