Happy Monday, friends,

As 2024 winds down, I'm taking a bit of a pause and thinking back on what an incredible year it’s been. I have this idea in my head - every year - that while yes: each year we get old - I always want to ensure that the new year is better than the last.

I basically want to age like fine wine. ;-)

Well, 2024 has been one for the books, and, of course, I have YOU to thank for being such an important part of this journey. From my clients to collaborators, bandmates, venues, and family, this year wouldn’t have been possible without your love and support, Emma.

So before I share my holiday tips, let me take a moment to thank some truly amazing people.

First, cue music please - a live performance video of my song You Can Count on Me This Christmas feat. Mason McCormick LIVE at the DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME).

Right, now. Where was I? Oh yes, my thank yous. Here we go!

  • You — yes you! For reading, supporting, and showing up! Your belief in me and the power of music continues to fuel me and my mission. Thank you.
  • My bandmates — and I realize they change a little from show to show, but truly: Joey, Jamie, Eric, Kyle, Chris, and everyone else I've shared a stage with this year: THANK YOU for your talent, dedication, and always bringing the right energy. Also, special shout out to Nadia, for being the world's best intern this past summer.
  • Hard Rock Cafe, DC9, Earp’s Ordinary, Pie Shop, Union Stage, NAMM Show, ADMO BID, Penn State, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center, Hotel Zena, XCAL, the School of Behavioral Health Professionals in the School District of Palm Beach County, Florida, and every other epic venue and event where I had the honor to play and speak this year.
  • DC Office of Cable Television — for always taking the time to shine a spotlight on my music and mission.
  • The team at Heartcast Media [my fantastic website developers], Raza Ry and TapS7n [my IP and digital marketing team], Jonna Michelle Photography, and Alex McSwain — your work makes magic happen.
  • GJS Security — for trusting me to empower teams in hostile environments through music and stress management workshops.
  • David Wardrick — thank you for bringing my music videos to life in ways I never dreamed possible this year!
  • My vocal and empowerment through songwriting clients — your growth inspires me daily.
  • Wildside Media, DC Fray, and all media outlets for helping share my message.
  • Rawinia Judson — for your invaluable coaching and unwavering support.
  • And, of course, my husband — for being my rock, my cheerleader, and my biggest supporter in this wild mission to save the world one song at a time.

I am so grateful for this amazing community.

THANK YOU.

After all: a rising tide lifts all boats <3

Right! I know I've been harping on about this a lot lately, but what can I say? I know that this time of year can be mad stressful, overwhelming and even triggering for some people. If you're NOT one of those people: I salute you. Please hit me back with your magic formula haha. In the meantime, here are my 10 Tips I'm Implementing to Stay Positive, Stress-Free, and Happy This Holiday Season:

  1. Breathe Deeply: Take a moment for yourself to practice deep breathing —it’s an instant stress reliever.
  2. Laugh Often: Watch your favorite holiday movie or share a joke with a friend. Laughter is pure magic. [Warning: I tried this a few years ago whilst rewatching Love Actually. My husband then pointed out to me how toxic each and every one of those relationships was... so, uh, this may be a solo laughter activity. You have been warned].
  3. Sing Your Heart Out: Singing boosts your mood, calms your nerves, and reminds you of your inner power.
  4. Set Boundaries: Choose the gatherings and events that align with your energy, and don’t feel bad saying no. No is a love word. I'm just sayin.
  5. Move Your Body: Dance around the kitchen, go for a brisk walk, or try a quick yoga flow to shake off stress.
  6. Gratitude Check-In: Each day, jot down three things you’re grateful for —big or small.
  7. Unplug: Take intentional breaks from social media and notifications to stay present.
  8. Stay Hydrated: It’s easy to forget when you’re busy, but water works wonders for your mood and energy. It's even more important during the cold winter months, as we dehydrate more easily.
  9. Embrace the Messiness: It’s okay if things aren’t picture-perfect — focus on what feels good, not what looks good.
  10. Create a Holiday Playlist: Curate songs that make you smile, sing, and maybe even cry (the good kind).

One Last Show Before 2024 Bows Out

I’ve got one more performance left this year, and I’d love to see you there! It'll be after Christmas, so no risk of holiday songs FWIW:

Nanny O’Briens Saturday December 28th 9 PM – 11 PM

Let’s close out 2024 together with some good vibes, great music, and tasty libations.

I’m signing off for a little rest and recharge, but I’ll be back on January 6th with more music, motivation, and mental health stuffs for 2025.

Wishing you all the joy, love, and music this holiday season. Let’s continue to save the world — one song at a time.

With love and gratitude,

Have an AMAZING holiday season ON PURPOSE, and if you're looking to start 2025 on the right note [pun intended], you know what to do: book a call with me to find out more about empowerment through singing and songwriting coaching!
