Joy Reid, a political commentator and television host, was fired from her position at MSNBC where she anchored “The ReidOut.” NPR says her departure is part of a broader restructuring of MSNBC's programming.
The Nation argued the decision harms diversity: Reid's cancellation undermined the anchor's vital role in platforming emerging Black voices.
USA Today says Rachel Maddow -- an MSNBC star -- also criticized Reid's exit. She said the network made a “bad mistake”.
