Joy of Learning
November has proven to be a month of rich conversations, aha moments and pure joy for me personally and professionally. I am grateful for the amazing presenters at the ASPECT conference where we reviewed and revisited key issues impacting on our profession such as Truth and Reconciliation, Trauma, and of course the need for having fun to stay engaged and effective as professionals. My heartfelt thanks to every one of you who participated in the conversation about the need to engage, develop and retain our most important asset - Front line staff, and the request that our organization leaders consider Servant Leadership as a way to build healthy, profitable and vibrant teams and businesses.
I just completed 2 magnificent days of training in Guiding Circles with Gray Poehnell and my life is forever changed - both professionally and personally. I was reminded that to build a true relationship rooted in trust and reality we must always listen well to others to hear where they are at this time. We allow time to tell their stories and truly do the "act of listening" by asking questions. How often do we think we know, we assume, we rush ahead finishing another's story? Then we wonder why we really have no idea what the other's truth is. Thank you Gray for shining a light on all that is important in relationship.
