Joy killers at work, lasting impressions, and things that don't work!

Elections, heat, rains, mangoes, appraisals... the months of April and May look and feel so different than our school, and college times, right? sigh! Adulthood.

Anyway, I'm back with another interesting edition of the newsletter - Happiness At Work - packed with fresh insights, intriguing stories, and practical tips to brighten up your work life.

Let's dive into the world of workplace happiness and keep our journey of joy and discovery rolling!

How will people remember you once you leave the workplace?

recently, my friend decided to leave his current workplace for a new opportunity, his colleague expressed how much he would miss him and fondly remembered the fun times they'd shared. As a friend, it was so sweet for me to hear such positive words about my friend. I was really proud of him.

This story illustrates the importance of leaving a positive impression when moving on, reflecting the valuable impact we have on the work environment. Our contributions to team culture, willingness to offer help, and expressions of gratitude help us build lasting connections that will be remembered long after we've left. By fostering genuine relationships and leaving behind a legacy of camaraderie, growth, and appreciation, we contribute to a happier workplace for everyone. Ultimately, these positive work impressions remind us that happiness at work is not just about the time we spend there but about the memories and relationships that endure.

So, what kind of impression are you leaving on your colleagues? Here's a simple exercise: ask a trusted coworker what three words come to mind when they think of you and reflect on how you might build on these impressions to create a lasting legacy of joy and camaraderie at work.

These 3 things are keeping you away from experiencing joy at work.

  1. "I'm Not Doing Better Than My Colleagues"- Why measure your success against your colleagues? Your true competition has always been yourself. Are you doing better than you did last week, last month, or last year? If so, you're on the right path. Focus on personal growth, and celebrate your unique progress.
  2. "My Working Environment Isn't Helping Me Grow"- Every job, no matter how ideal it seems, has its challenges. If you want to thrive, you must find creative solutions to make your environment work for you. Identify the opportunities within the challenges, and transform setbacks into stepping stones.
  3. "I'll Be Happy When I See Results"- Results aren't visible every day, but that doesn't mean the effort you put into something new or special isn't valuable. Each day you spend learning, building, or exploring is a crucial step towards your final "result" day. Embrace the journey and find joy in the small victories along the way.

Shifting your mindset in these three areas can help you rediscover joy at work and ensure each day feels meaningful and fulfilling.

Every week I give a dope recommendation, this week's recommendation is also my favorite. I may not agree with all of it, but I like the idea that someone thought of making an article about it. This article is about 43 things that don't work. I know #nerdalert but it's fun to browse through the list.

Oh, also, under Keep It hygge's sub brand - we have come up with a fun sensory box. Fun products and hygge vibes. You can check it out here
