The Joy of Giving

"When you have more than you need, build a longer table not a higher fence”, is a maxim worth bearing in mind as we move past the festive season into the New Year. As we look to the year ahead, it’s a time to reflect on what we’ve received in the past few weeks, but also how we can give to others.

In this blog I wanted to consider some of the work we do to support initiatives aimed at alleviating the discomfort of those living on the streets, who face uncertain access to regular and sufficient nutrition and shelter, but also those on low incomes who are struggling to cope with rising costs. In some areas of the world, the cold winter weather has been devastating, as freezing temperatures make the challenge of managing day-to-day particularly difficult.

In response to these challenges, our employees in the Netherlands and Hungary have been dedicating their time to serve local communities living in difficult circumstances this winter.

In the Netherlands, our colleagues at the Enschede and Amsterdam plants organised a 2 week-long charitable drive called ACE-ing it for Voedselbank, which 770 employees took part in.? This involved volunteering with the non-profit organisation Voedselbank and donating around 23 crates of donated non-perishable food items to under-privileged communities.

In Hungary, our employees engaged in a ‘Shoe-box’ campaign organised by Hungarian Baptist Aid. The campaign encouraged employees to pack donations into shoeboxes which were then given as Christmas presents to children in need. A total of 44 gifts were donated to this initiative by our Hungarian employees.

At Apollo Tyres, we believe in doing what we can to take care of others in our communities and our healthcare, livelihood, and philanthropic initiatives are aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals.
