Enabling people to live lives full of choice and opportunities
In our fast-paced, technology-driven world, it's easy to forget the simple joys of traditional board games. Recently, we had the pleasure of experiencing this firsthand when Jennie*, one of the people we support, played a game of Snakes and Ladders with our colleagues members in the main lounge.
The Joy of Simple Games: Jennie’s Hour with Snakes and Ladders
For a full hour, Jennie was fully engaged, bringing her characteristic enthusiasm to the game. It was a delight to see her excitement as she rolled the dice, counted her moves, and navigated the ups and downs of the board. Her energy was infectious, reminding us all of the simple pleasures of childhood games.
Playing Snakes and Ladders wasn’t just a nostalgic trip down memory lane; it was also a refreshing break from our usual routines. Jennie’s excitement was clear as she eagerly anticipated each turn, strategized her moves, and celebrated every climb up a ladder. Equally, her groans of dismay when sliding down a snake brought laughter and camaraderie to the group.
Jennie’s full engagement in the game highlighted an important lesson: being present and involved can transform even the simplest activities into memorable experiences. Her counting along with us, cheering for successes, and sharing in the setbacks created a shared sense of joy and connection among all participants.
This hour with Jennie and Snakes and Ladders was more than just a game; it was a reminder of the power of simple joys and the importance of taking time to connect with one another. It showed us that sometimes, the best moments come from the simplest activities, especially when shared with enthusiastic and engaged company.
