Why I am a fan of Gavaskar, Mohinder Amarnath, Azharuddin, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, and Dhoni...!!!
Well
You can see a bunch of very talented players have also been left out from my list.
Not that I did not enjoy while they played, but because, these stars managed to move me from within, as to how I should handle life in my own joyful excellence, very unique to myself..
Gavaskar didn't win many matches, but he started saving India from getting out within 3 days against the formidable teams of his times. The world does not give much credit to what he did, but that is what patient defiance is... Of the insurmountable challanges those come into each of us...but there always is a way, how you can display your own excellence, in a joyful manner!!
Mohinder Amarnath, the unassuming cricketer, who had this mild mannerism, very comfortable in the company of luminaries,,like the Super brilliant Kapil Dev, who ate away the confidence of West Indies in that memorable World Cup final when he covered half the pitch to catch the devastating Viv Richards! After all just 183 rubs is light morning snack for the West Indies.. ..... Where did Mohinder count in this saga? But he created ripples when it mattered. The ripples that spread.. after all, how many opportunities does life brings you.. happens only if you have sVoured the first one gleefully, jouyfullly and have excelled at it..
Azharuddin, .. could you even tell today as to which way the ball would go whenever he flicked it? If you get time before the ball is hit back at the stumps, and that can only be done if the ball is spotted, and that comes with the ability to anticipate the ball in the first place after it is hot, ..and this gap creates time for more than one run to be scored, 2 at least, often times 3, .... If not the boundary.... 4 times 3 is also 12 equal to 3 times 4 which can be huge risks as well. Make the innings stand. Out whether or not you hit Bulls eye or not.. is a great way towards creating joyful excellence... Agree?
VVS Laxman, my God! An Australian specialist.. I think he got into the mood of double hundred whenever he played Australia, just a shade lower than the West Indies of that time ..well well well.. A character, a niche he did well with other situations n circumstances as well.. nonchalance..at its best, towards non negotiable stoned temperament that did not budge no matter how provoking the situation might be.. don't you think there is a bliss in being calm..when a super Turnado hitting you..effecting a turnaround...
Rahul Dravid..the wall. Super patience!. Whether anything is happening around or not, whether strategy is playing at its full or not, whether the other person is dazzling the world or not,... He stood there without blinking.. if somebody is hypnotizing others into irrational action, we'll look at Rahul, and rub the cold ice into your head, and take your guard another time.. it is one ball at a time.. play it full out.. if it goes to the fence in the first 10 over, it is good, else the super efficient running between the crease and retaining the strike or allowing the strike.... It's just pure pure pure cold blooded mathematics ..... Gavaskar like defiance..yes.. super cool no matter what... What after all, matters besides being your character of excellence under the circumstances?..
And that is why Dhoni makes to top of my list, ..as he makes Victory as his super strategy owning all those characters of his very illustrious predecessors....in perfect balance.. and not that he has won all the time.. but do you remember his losses?
He stands tall, embracing all his lacunae, defeats, losses...into his saga of joyful excellence!... He remains the winner irrespective of the outcome..
And that is excellence, where results do matter, but the overcome outcome is unforgettable! It is the enigma of an Iconic personality..
I call this As Joyful excellence..

1 年Three major left outs who had enormous impact on Indian cricket include two Jats...Virendra Sehwag for bringing in fearless and dominating bowlers approach to batting in Indian cricket, Kapildev Nikhanj for initiating medium pace swing bowling, athletic fielding and aggressive batting...he raised the generation of pace bowlers ilke Shrinath, Prasad, Nehra inspired by him... lastly Saurabh Ganguli who taught Indian team to counter sledging and standing tall against aggressive opponents... I feel currently Virat will have huge impact on generation on cricketers to come... But major worry of India is still genuine fast bowler who can take wickets on any track with sheer pace...I am looking forward to Umran Malik very hopefully for this
