Joy of coding - part 2
In part 1, I had expressed happiness that my own TCS CodeVita engineering team and students belonging to Zone 1 of CodeVita had shown tremendous intensity in making Zone 1 a success. I had also hoped that Zone 2 would respond with equal if not more intensity. This blog is to bring a closure to India Phase of Season IX of TCS CodeVita.
I don't intend to write much. Just want to post a couple of graphs for your viewing pleasure for you to figure out how Zone 2 played out. So let's begin.
Season VIII performance was as below
Season IX performance is as below
Reproducing similar response time heat map as was presented in part 1 for Zone 1
Once again response times were well below 2 seconds. The next graph, a carpet plot shows average response time throughout the 24-hour duration of the contest.
This time I have curated some CPU Utilization data of one the servers that matters the most. Utilization never exceeded 40%. Our overall capacity was the same i.e. ~350 cores and 600 GB RAM
Finally, to give some people touch to the whole thing, posting feedback graph. Of the 1 Lakh+ or 100K+ users who logged-in to Zone 2 of CodeVita, 17.1% voluntarily gave the following feedback.
A huge burden of conducting a successful CodeVita is off my shoulders. Feel tremendously light-weight now. A loud shout out all TCS teams, Students and college TPOs for keeping the spirits high and showing intensity and collaborating for a good turnout.
Finally, stating some facts explicitly
- Season IX Zone 2 showed a ~3x increase over Season VIII numbers viz. Peak submission evaluation rate of 4951 v/s 1560, total submissions 16.72 Lakhs v/s 7.86 Lakhs
- This year's Zone 2 comprised of all 4 metro cities whereas the zone 1 comprised of Rest of India (so to say). If I were to gamify and declare one winner between the two zones, Zone 1 comes out as the clear winner because of 17.65 Lakh submissions over 16.72 Lakh submission, despite being about 20% lesser in terms of number of registrations. Second reason for them being a winner is these are tier 2, tier 3 cities where internet infrastructure and 24-hr power availability is far less certain than in the 4 Indian metros.
Adios amigos for now !!!
