The Joy of Being Someone's Daily Highlight (and Preserving My Energy While Doing It!)

The Joy of Being Someone's Daily Highlight (and Preserving My Energy While Doing It!)

Today is one of those days that makes me remember why I love being a coach. I got some feedback that made me chuckle and feel all warm and fuzzy inside: “You are the highlight of my day. I commit to preserve my energy during my daily routine.” I mean, how awesome is that? Not only do I get to play the role of a coach, but I’m also apparently a mood booster—like a cup of coffee but without the jitters!

Let’s be real, we all have those days where doubt creeps in like your weird uncle at family gatherings. When you’re tired, stressed, or just plain challenged, it’s easy to forget that you’re enough. Just as we all have our highs and lows, so do our clients. That’s why it’s so refreshing to hear that I helped someone feel a little more energized. And that they helped me as well.

Here’s what I’m taking away from this (and you might want to take notes—this could be on the quiz later):

1. I’m a Mood Booster: Seriously, who knew my coaching could turn me into someone’s daily highlight? Next thing you know, I’ll be handing out awards for “Best Coach Ever” right in my living room! It’s a sweet reminder that we all have the power to lift others up—so let’s lean into that!

2. Energy is Precious—Don’t Waste It! Let’s face it: we’re living in a world that likes to drain our batteries faster than a smartphone stuck on 5% power. That’s why I’m all about preserving energy, not just for my clients but for myself too. Finding time to wind down and recharge isn’t just a good idea; it’s essential. You wouldn’t drive around with an empty gas tank… or would you?

3. You Do You—And That’s Enough! Ever feel like you’re not cut out for the task at hand? Join the club! But here’s a little secret: you are enough just as you are. Embrace your quirks and don’t let the doubt monster get the best of you. Remember, I’m your biggest cheerleader—even if I have to look ridiculous doing it. Pom-poms included!

4. Fun Routines Are the Best: Why dread the daily grind when you can spice it up? Energy preservation is all about making it fun. Whether it’s dancing in your living room, singing in the shower, or just sneaking in a little ‘you’ time—let’s make it enjoyable. I’m pretty sure working out counts if you’re laughing while doing it!

5. The Power of Feedback is Real: Let’s not forget the magic of feedback—it’s like the cherry on top of the coaching sundae. Not only does it light up my day when a client shares their thoughts, but it also fuels growth for both of us. When we offer and receive feedback, we get to celebrate wins and learn together. It lifts our spirits and reinforces the bond we share, reminding us that we’re in this journey side by side. Honestly, who knew that a few kind words could be just as energizing as a double shot of espresso? Or green tea? Or chocolate cake?

So, here’s to the people we get to inspire and the echoes of laughter and joy we share along the way. Let's keep being those delightful highlights in each other’s lives while remembering to recharge our own batteries. After all, a happy us makes for happier clients, stakeholders, teams, family, friends. And who doesn’t want to be a ray of sunshine (or at least a good cup of coffee) in someone’s day?

Thanks to all my clients, fellow coaches and all of you out there—keep shining, keep laughing, and let’s preserve that energy like it's the last slice of pizza at a party!
