At Phoenix Learning & Care Group , we believe that confidence is a cornerstone of personal growth. For one of the Adults we support at one of our Supported Living settings, the journey toward independence has been a remarkable one, filled with determination, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to self-improvement.

Recently, this individual achieved an incredible milestone by independently attending a weekly club in Exeter. This may sound simple on the surface, but the process required mastering several new skills and stepping into unfamiliar territory. From purchasing a train ticket and navigating the rail system to disembarking at the correct station, tackling a long walk at the other end, and socialising without direct support, this journey is a true testament to their growth and newfound confidence.

Travelling solo and engaging in new social environments can be daunting, particularly for someone who has relied on support in the past. It requires not only practical skills but also a belief in one’s ability to succeed.
