A Journey Through Words: Self-discovery!
Dear LinkedIn family,
I can't wait to share this with you all. The stories I have written so far are not just based on themes I wanted to portray, but they also carry a part of me. I have explored the theme of self-discovery in my book, THE QUEST OF VERMILLION. Self-discovery shaped my writing process as I let words flow out of my heart into a book.
Inspiration
When the idea visited me, a few questions reigned in my mind - questions about identity, purpose, and belongingness. Yes, the same questions that had made my protagonist, Krutika, very restless. Strangely enough, readers shared their thoughts personally with me, "I can relate with Krutika", "Krutika's journey resonates with mine", and so on. The inner world is complicated and exploring my world helped me lay the foundation of the characters.
Characters as Mirrors
Each character deals with struggles and victories as unique parts of their journeys. Some characters mirror my process of self-discovery. As Vermillion also navigates its own battles, you will discover the power of resilience, grit, and self-belief in a parallel universe. But, the journey will vibe along with yours and mine journey. Grappling with societal expectations, or challenging intrinsic insecurities, I tried to evoke my self-discovery, as much as possible, into THE QUEST OF VERMILLION.
Conflict
Conflict steers a story. Conflict pushes the characters to walk on a road to self-discovery. My characters, whether Krutika or her mother go through havoc wrecked by external conflicts that slowly permeate into their inner core. Through Krutika's defying spirit, her mother also breaks apart the layers of self-doubt strangling her soul and discovers her strength. How? Well, for that you need to read the book. Let me know which character's journey you resonate with.
Reflection
Here's a secret I haven't shared before. I had to reflect on my personal experiences to do justice to every character. The characters had to pause, contemplate, and imbibe new learnings from their own journeys. I also had to put myself in the character's shoes and look within to cast the echo of moments of self-discovery.
Readers Connect
It took me one year to pour out my moments of self-discovery in carving the characters and their journeys in THE QUEST OF VERMILLION. The most rewarding feeling is the love of readers. Many readers resonate with the theme explored. When readers express how my book and its characters mirrored readers' own experiences, my heart brims with a sense of accomplishment. After all, self-discovery is a shared human experience.
Understanding, empathy, and growth hold my hand whenever I explore such themes. Are you ready to reflect on your journeys of self-discovery? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!
If you want to know more about the theme of self-discovery in my book, give it a read! I will wait for your feedback!
