A Journey Through 2024

From Dreamer to Data Scientist:

As I reflect on my journey to becoming a data scientist, it's incredible to think about how far I’ve come since I decided to embark on this path. Back in 2024, data science was the field everyone was talking about, and I was determined to be part of it. The roadmap to get there wasn’t easy, but step by step, with guidance and persistence, I transformed my aspirations into reality.

Step 1: Building the Foundation

The first step was revisiting the basics. I immersed myself in mathematics and statistics, brushing up on probability, linear algebra, and calculus. Concepts I hadn’t touched since my university days suddenly became essential. Platforms like Coursera and Khan Academy were incredibly helpful, but the real breakthrough came when I joined Africa Data School. Their structured approach, coupled with one-on-one mentoring, helped me grasp these fundamentals in a way I never thought possible.

Step 2: Learning to Code

Programming was the next hurdle. Python became my go-to language, and I quickly realized how powerful it was for data manipulation and analysis.
