Dear everybody,

For today’s topic, I want to share how my experience at LinkedIn has taken me a long way in understanding the finer details of what LinkedIn has to offer in the last two and half years.

I started off by creating my LinkedIn profile at the age of 14 out of curiosity.

Didn’t touch it again until the age of 17.

I didn’t go beyond minor scrolling the application at age of 18.

It wasn’t until I turned 20 that I started using consistently. This was during the pandemic times, and I had a sometime to explore new things.

I have now been consistently using LinkedIn for the last two years and am still learning new things about it.

You might ask why? Even after finding a position at Accenture in the pandemic times.

The reason it not far to seek. It brings me joy to see students, experienced employees, retired experts, or any sort of professionals journey to see how everything is going with their career, whether it be a switch, move, lay-off cycle, or starting a new position, or just entering the industry with a new perspective. Each story has its own uniqueness as to why it shaped up like that and the excitement of what the future holds.

Learning LinkedIn takes a lot of exploring, curiosity, and research. You learn the nuances of connecting with other peers and professionals, approaching them, cold calling to learn about their experiences, and thanking them for being extremely gracious with their time for newbies like me.

A few pointers from my learning along the journey.

Be disciplined at using LinkedIn.

Make your plan on how you are going to use it.

Be consistent.

Have fun at it.

In summary, show your personality as professional, just like you meet a friend for the first time. It can be challenging to do it virtually, but as you shine through, it helps you to transition successfully from a student to a professional to an expert.
