IEEE TCET Student Chapter
Welcome to IEEE-TCET's LinkedIn. We were founded in 2002 and have been one of the most active student branch.
On July 3rd, 2024, the IEEE Bombay Section SIGHT Committee embarked on a transformative journey to Govardhan Ecovillage (GEV). This educational excursion wasn't just a trip; it was an immersive experience into the world of sustainability and eco-friendly living. ???
A Journey with Purpose
The day began with anticipation and excitement as participants gathered at Omkareshwar Temple, Borivali. With a vibrant ice-breaker session on the bus, students bonded over shared interests and renewed their commitment to the SIGHT committee. The journey was more than just a physical one; it was a step towards embracing a greener future.
Upon arriving at GEV, the tranquil atmosphere and lush greenery welcomed us. The visit started with a spiritually enriching darshan of Srila Prabhupada and Shri Krishna, setting a serene tone for the day. The real adventure began as we were briefed about the impressive biodiversity conservation efforts at Govardhan Forest. It was fascinating to learn about the significant increase in tree population and the diverse species of butterflies and birds that now call this place home.
Immersive Learning Experience
The exploration continued as we visited the gaushala, where the essence of sustainability came to life. We delved into the production of biogas and vermicompost from cow dung, witnessing firsthand how waste can be transformed into valuable resources. The various eco-friendly products made at the village showcased the ingenuity and practicality of sustainable practices.
Key Highlights
Exploring Sustainable Innovations
The afternoon was dedicated to exploring the innovative waste management facilities at Govardhan Ecovillage . We learned about the ten drums technology and pyrolysis plant, marveling at how advanced techniques are being used to tackle waste. The tour of organic farming and fruit plantation areas demonstrated the practical applications of sustainable agriculture, leaving us inspired to implement these practices in our own lives.
After a delicious traditional lunch, we indulged in a fun-filled "Scrambled Words" game related to sustainability. This was followed by video feedback sessions where participants shared their thoughts and experiences. These sessions were recorded and shared on social media, amplifying the message of sustainability.
Fun, Feedback, and Farewell
As the day drew to a close, we reflected on the invaluable lessons learned and the inspiration gained from this excursion. The final attendance check and feedback form filling marked the end of our visit, but the beginning of a new commitment to sustainable living.
Conclusion
The educational excursion to Govardhan Eco Village was more than just a field trip; it was a journey into the future of sustainability. The IEEE Bombay Section SIGHT Committee successfully provided an immersive learning experience that has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on all participants. By embracing sustainable practices and eco-friendly initiatives, we are now more equipped and inspired to contribute to a greener, more sustainable world.
This excursion exemplified the commitment of the IEEE Bombay Section SIGHT Committee to community and sustainable development through technological solutions, paving the way for a more eco-friendly future.
