When my partners and I signed the founding documents for our company on July 14, 1999, we had no idea that the adventure would last so many years.

Twenty-five years filled with enriching human encounters, projects of varying complexity, experimentation, challenges, successes, failures, tough times, and moments of grace...

Twenty-five years that fill me with pride, seeing many of those who began their careers with us now thriving as successful professionals—be they animators, computer graphics artists, stuntmen, developers...

The human richness of the talents who have accompanied us, many of whom have become friends and with whom an unbreakable bond has been forged, is our greatest achievement.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us on this incredible adventure.??????

This adventure owes a great deal to Vicon and its managers at the time, who enabled us to establish the first Motion Capture studio equipped with 24 cameras and what was likely the largest capture surface in the world at that time.

My eternal gratitude goes to Julian Morris, the late Peter Meddings, Albert Gaudin and Tom Shannon for their unparalleled support.????


These years have allowed us to push the boundaries of Motion Capture, utilizing it for dozens of video games and feature films, as well as for artists and scientists.

These years have brought us incredible partnerships with prestigious companies and enriching encounters with directors, technical teams, actors, stuntmen, designers, researchers, choreographers, visual artists, philosophers, athletes, singers...

These years were also devoted to broadening the uses of Motion Capture and Real-Time 3D CGI beyond entertainment.??

It has been a wide horizon of nourishing interactions.??

From the discovery of these new fields of possibilities beyond entertainment, we gradually pivoted from production to supporting new uses of Real-Time 3D CGI and Motion Capture.

An absolutely thrilling period, as it is immensely rewarding to help companies adopt tools, improve workflows, and explore new paradigms.

A period also rich in research and development, discovery, and experimentation to support a credo we have long believed in: Real-Time 3D CGI is destined to transform many industries.

And also a period where we discover the joy of transmitting knowledge, first in the professional context but later in schools, promoting a spirit of mentoring with the rising generations.

Over the past 15 years, this aspect of training has gradually become a larger part of our activity.

We created the first bachelor's program in France dedicated to the new uses of Real-Time 3D CGI, participated in quality software development training, and mentored hundreds of young people...

Once again, a huge thank you to all the students and instructors who trusted me and gave meaning to our commitment. ??????

Real-Time 3D CGI has been the driving force behind the dizzying growth of the video game industries which has made it accessible and effective.

For a decade we have witnessed the appropriation of this technology by numerous sectors of activity ranging from design to construction, from E-retail to E-learning, from medical to military…

Today, it is becoming one of the keys to transformation and innovation for a wide range of activities.

WHO SAYS NEW USES, SAYS NEW CULTURE

For new fields of application, these new uses in various sectors represent a true paradigm shift.

While the technologies are the same as those used in video games, the approach must be entirely different to effectively leverage Real-Time 3D CGI for the transformation of these radically different applications.

Currently, there is a significant shortage of professionals who not only master the technical aspects but also possess the appropriate cultural understanding.

This lack of skilled resources puts pressure on the job market related to these uses and poses a significant obstacle to their development.

ATOPOS ACADEMY

This is why the next chapter of the Atopos adventure will involve establishing a school dedicated to new uses of Real-Time 3D CGI, leveraging our extensive experience and the network we have built over the past 25 years.

Atopos, pour moi c est une phrase: "Passe nous voir à Fontenay si tu veux." Ces mots, lors d'un très bref passage sur le tournage d'Immortel de Enki Bilal, auront marqué ma vie dans ce métier et résument qui est Stéphane: Celui qui offre une chance à quelqu'un d'autre sur un ressenti, sans a priori. Atopos m'a accompagné de très près ou de plus loin, tout au long de ma carrière 3d qui par ailleurs, fête également ses 25 ans cet été. ?? C'est à la suite de la fermeture de ExMachina, où j ai eu l'opportunité extraordinaire de débuter sur le plateau mocap avec Fran?ois Forge que je rencontre à Fontenay sous Bois, sur un énorme plateau de mocap, une petite bande d'artistes hétéroclites de la 3d. On y parle dans un nuage permanent de fumée de cigarette de 3d bien s?r mais aussi de musique, de cinéma, d'art contemporain bref de tout et c est au c?ur même de ce qu'est Atopos. Un projet, puis d'autres, des ascenseurs qu'on se renvoie sous de multiples formes de productions 3D jusqu'à l'éducation. "La bande" d' Atopos, ce sont tous des gens qui comptent pour moi.

Inspiring!

We met around music and we spend a lot of years together on a lot of productions. But also to try to repair construction machinery's tire with olivier or cooking in a huge professional kitchen. Motion capture has always been a discipline that is invented and you are one of the pioneers. I ll be your eternal lieutenant.
