Journey at Rimac Automobili
My journey at Rimac Automobili started somewhere in autumn 2010. I stepped into Igor Pongrac's garage, Race was running a round and it looked like the guys are just having fun. At that time I was working in Fremntle and although my boss Danijela Mudra Habek was great, I was not fulfilled with the job and I was already writing an application for the UN office in Afghanistan (Daniela I realise now how funny this is, at the end you ended up in Afghanistan and I never told you this story). But Mate had an idea to make the fastest electric car, despite many saying it's a crazy idea and that it is not possible to make a car in Croatia, I thought it was amazing, brave and that you need to have balls to do that with only 22 years of age. I remember the day when he signed his first term sheet with Royal Family of Abu Dhabi. It was December 1st 2010. and he decided to take a small group of us for celebration and I didn't even realize at that time where this would take us. If I knew Marko Zavic we should have gotten more drunk that night since it was worth celebrating. That was the day when things became more serious - we started our big rush to Frankfurt Motor Show, our first show ever. I have this thing that I give up chocolate for a certain time if I want something to happen, so of course I gave up chocolate for a year just that we make Concept_One on time. We all did many sacrifices to make it on time, one that I will regret for the rest of my life was that I didn't attend one of my best friends weeding, Dubravka Terzi? Ba?ljan I apologise once again. At the end we made it, we were announced as biggest surprise of Frankfurt Motor Show 2011. I'm only sorry that I didn't stop for one hour at the stand and enjoy the moment, the show was exhausting and all of us should have enjoyed it a bit more. I remember that I never thanked my other best friend for coming there and congratulating. Thank you Helena Sopar for supporting me. At the end the deal with Abu Dhabi didn't go through and that's what actually made Rimac what it is today - a technology company, so it's funny how after few years you realise that the biggest disaster at that point is something that is for the better. We had many ups and downs and we struggled to get any job just to keep us alive. My moto in life is when you hit the rock bottom just push yourself a bit harder and swim to the surface and it always worked. I would like to thank all of the people that supported us when we were going through some rough times and believed in us. We managed to close our first financing round in 2014. of 10 mil Euros and from that point the company had exponential growth to our second round of financing in last year. It was inspiring, exciting and frightening to help this company grow to 350 people. Since the company was changing it required from me to change and changing yourself is never easy. This company shaped me into who I am today and I think I am a better person because all of the things that I experienced here. It's been almost 8 (za tim - kolko? 8 na k… te nosam, tih ?ala nema di idem ;)) and now the time has come to start the new story. I consider most of the people I worked with like my family and one of the hardest things I had to do in my life was saying goodbye to you guys and you made it really memorable. I will always be proud of you and share the story we lived together with passion and all of you remember that you promised me to work hard to bring this company to the next level. #foreveryours #foreverCOO
