A Journey of Rediscovery

I am Bashir from Mississauga, Canada and I would like to share my story with you.

My life was as ordinary as it could get, filled with little joys and everyday challenges, until June 2014, when my little princess was born. The joy of her arrival was unbounded, filling our household with laughter and love. But as the days turned into nights and seasons changed their shades, my wife and I noticed something different about our little one.

The journey to understanding began in February 2016, when we met a social worker who suggested seeing a Pediatric Psychologist. Eventually, our daughter was diagnosed with Autism in January 2017.

The days that followed were filled with emotions - sadness, and hopelessness, but also an unwavering desire to help our daughter. The world seemed to have crumbled, yet we found a spark of hope. We made the decision to start early interventions and explored Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), the Son-Rise program, and every avenue that looked promising.

In 2023 we started the Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) program. With each passing day, we achieved a better understanding and gained more hope. The RDI consultant became our guiding star, leading us through the maze of autism, and helping us reconnect with our little princess in ways we had never imagined.

Now, with a heart full of gratitude and a mind filled with knowledge, I started supporting other parents who found themselves lost in a similar maze of autism. Therefore, I created an online community for parents to come together, learn from each other, and share struggles and triumphs.

I am looking ahead to the endless possibilities that arise when we support each other and share knowledge. My journey is one of hope, love, and the unwavering spirit of a father's love. #bashirAutismdad
