Obencian’s passion for technology began at a young age in Haiti, where he was fascinated by electronic gadgets and computers. Eight years ago, he moved to the United States, pursued his studies in computer networking, and in December 2020, joined Quantiphi. Reflecting on his career path, he says, "I was always interested in technology. That was always my goal."

Obencian’s journey at Quantiphi has been one of continuous learning and growth. He emphasizes the dynamic nature of his role, stating, "Every day brings new challenges and new technologies to learn. It’s an ongoing learning process." This perpetual evolution in technology keeps him motivated and excited about his work. He finds fulfillment in solving urgent issues for users, as he describes, "When a user reaches out with an issue, and we manage to resolve it, their gratitude is incredibly rewarding. It makes you want to wake up every day and do what you do."

One of the defining moments in Obencian's career was adapting to new tools and technologies at Quantiphi. "When I joined, there were several tools I had never used before. Learning and mastering these tools made me a reference point for others," he shares. This experience highlights the importance of being a quick learner and having a passion for continuous improvement.

For those aspiring to join the tech field, Obencian's advice is clear: "The first thing you need is passion. If you’re passionate about what you do, it becomes a part of your life. Be ready for the ups and downs, and always strive to get better."

Obencian also touches on the common misconceptions about being an IT professional. Many assume that IT experts have an almost magical ability to fix everything instantly. However, he explains, "People often think IT guys can fix anything instantly, but they don't understand the complexities involved. It’s important to educate them patiently."

In terms of advice to his younger self, Obencian reflects, "I would say to start sooner. Technology is the future, and it's the base of everything now, especially with AI becoming so prevalent."
