LIFE…. life can be a thorn, a nail giving you deep pain and leaving you feeling defeated and disappointment. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Everyone is fighting a battle!! The only way to make lemonade out of those nasty molded lemons life throws your way is to change your attitude about it all. You see, it's not necessarily about the situation you find yourself in, but the way you respond to it.
Do not expect to be treated fairly in this life. If you start each day acknowledging the fact that you will more than likely hit a "pothole" or two, then you are already a step ahead. As we all travel down the road of life we can’t help but see that in places it is full of potholes. Pains and problems, difficulties and troubles, challenges and obstacles, sickness and death all lie along that rough road. There is no way to ignore them. There is no way to avoid them. There is no way to travel around them. What we are left with then is a choice. We can curse their existence and rail at God and life or we can take a shovel full of kindness, a shovel full of joy, and a shovel full of love and do our best to fill them in.
We can work and pray and have faith that we are making the road a little less rough for those who follow us. And we can remember that while God didn’t promise us a smooth road in this life He did promise to help us to smooth the road ourselves, one pothole at a time.
Life has many potholes, and when you hit them, you are jarred, the wheels of life are knocked out of line, and sometimes your tires blowout and you have to come to a complete stop. Of course, I am speaking metaphorically. But you know what I mean by the potholes of life, and unless you are a very unusual person, you have experienced many of them yourself.
Just how does one cope with the potholes of life? No matter how hard we try, regardless of how much we zigzag though life, we just can’t avoid all the potholes. There are those times that life’s potholes just shake and rattle us beyond what we are able to tolerate. God doesn’t always guide us around them, although He could. He knows that we learn through the difficulties and come to trust Him more when we’re in trouble.
It takes focus, vision and self discipline to ride with a smile on the bad road of life. You can do it! It's not easy every day, and some potholes are bigger and deeper than others...the days you want to kick and scream and cry and shake your fist at God and accuse Him of not loving you or being there for you. Pushing through those seemingly impossible days, makes those "perfect" days all the more delicious...it reminds me of sour ball candy. At first it's so sour and tingles your tongue and you pucker and struggle to keep it in your mouth, but if you push through for a few seconds, you find yourself beginning to enjoy the second layer of the candy bc it is sweet and tasty and brings pleasure to your taste buds and you realize that it was a great piece of candy after all.
