Arising from a strong collaboration among Western University, Robarts Research Institute , and Lawson Health Research Institute – collectively known as the Partners – we proudly bear the name WORLDiscoveries?. This partnership draws from the "W" of Western University and the "R" and "L" of Robarts Research Institute and Lawson Health Research Institute, giving rise to the WORLDiscoveries name.

Empowering the Future: A Glimpse into the WE-Empower! Second Annual Program
In the realm of innovation and entrepreneurship, the WE-Empower! The program has firmly established itself as a beacon of empowerment, a catalyst for transformation, and a driving force for change. As we celebrate the end of the first month of the second annual program, we reflect on the remarkable journey that has already begun.
Setting the Stage: The Launch Event
The journey commenced on Thursday, September 14, with an electrifying launch event that marked the official start of the WE-Empower! Program. The event featured the remarkable trio of Dave Muir , Associate Vice President for Innovation and Strategic Partnerships at 加拿大西安大略大学 ; Tristan Harrison, PhD. , Business Development Manager at WORLDiscoveries; and Meagan Furnivall Petter , a standout participant and the recipient of the prestigious $50,000 WE Grant.

David Muir, a driving force behind innovation, shared insights into the vision of WE-Empower! and the program's overarching goals. With his wealth of experience, Tristan Harrison laid the groundwork for what participants could expect from the upcoming months.
However, it was Meagan Furnivall who truly embodied the spirit of WE-Empower! Her presence was a testament to the program's ability to empower and transform lives. Meagan's journey is not just her own; it's an illustration of the potential that WE-Empower! unlocks in each participant.
From Research to Innovation: The September 21 Panel
One of the program's highlights in September was the enlightening panel discussion on September 21. Under the theme "Research to Invention to Technology – From Bench Side to Bedside," industry luminaries and academic experts shared their insights.
The panel, expertly hosted by Olivia G. , a Ph.D. candidate in Neuroscience and a strong advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion in academia and sport, featured Dr. Maura Campbell, President and CEO of the OBIO , Dr. Sarah Gallagher , Director of the Institute for Earth and Space Exploration (Western Space) at Western University, and Lori Chiasson - Davey , Operations Manager at SoilOptix Inc ., offered valuable perspectives on the journey from the research bench to real-world applications. Their wisdom inspired participants and demonstrated that innovation knows no boundaries.
Business Planning: The September 28 Insights
As September drew close, the program pivoted toward the critical aspects of business planning, market research, and assessment. On September 28, Kate Grant , a Business Advisor at Fasken , and Beena Tharakan , Partner and Principal Consultant at The Sector Inc. , lent their expertise to the participants. They equipped them with the knowledge and tools to chart their entrepreneurial course, reinforcing that innovation must be grounded in a strategic approach.
