Journey From FMCG Sales to Digital Marketing

I’ll repeat myself, but it’s never too much to underline that there are many “how’s.” In every situation, there are several ways to get a specific outcome.
So it’s not about the how, but the why and the what. The how, you’ll learn it along the way. There is no general process for transition from Sales to marketing. There are journeys that people embark on, and each of them will have different circumstances, approaches, skills, knowledge, passion, and willingness to get through.
I was a sales folk, so my answer is that it is easier to move from sales to marketing than vice versa but in practice, how can you shift (not how can you make the journey):
In your current company. Let them know you’d like to change and ask them what skills of development you’d need to do so. You can then spend one year building up what they could point out as gaps.
On my initiative, while doing a job I joined a digital marketing course from UpGrad and MICA and then while pursuing the course I joined my internship and started to implement my learnings during my internship. With UpGrad, you get to work while you learn new skills. The curriculum is very relevant to today's market scenario and has been very useful in my new role. While it may seem difficult or first to balance working and learning, the importance it holds is too much, which can be understood only when you complete the program and the journey was made more memorable and this program definitely added a lot of value to my resume and has equipped me with immense knowledge. UpGrad helped me with career fairs, job boards, networking sessions, career coaching, and industry mentorship. So all I can say it's never too late what you want it's all about you desire to pursue or passion to achieve something rather than making excuses to self.
