-----On 18 August 2008, the domain name bitcoin.org was registered.

On October 31st Satoshi Nakamoto posted to a cryptography mailing list, the white paper: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System.

On the 9th of November, the Bitcoin project was registered at the open-source-projects community resource, SourceForge.

-----In August of 2008 Satoshi registered the domain Bitcoin?org with a website that allows you to anonymously register domain names.

-----The Bitcoin?org domain was registered on August 18, 2008 -- presumably by Satoshi Nakamoto before even publishing the Bitcoin design paper.

Note: the Bitcoin?org site says it was co-registered by Sirius, although Sirius says he wasn't involved in Bitcoin until 2009.

Sirius, a.k.a. Martti Malmi, was the second Bitcoin developer after Satoshi and the founder of the Bitcoin Forum.
