His story is not just about volunteering; it’s about finding a deeper sense of fulfilment and satisfaction in giving back to the community. Deva believes that true success lies not just in personal achievements but in the smiles he brings to others through his work at Bhumi.
Meet Deva Gopireddy, a vibrant and passionate volunteer from Pune who has been an inspiring force at Bhumi. Born in Warangal, Telangana, Deva’s journey is one of dedication, passion, and an unyielding desire to make a difference. His story showcases the power of youth-driven change and the impact that a single individual can have on a community.
Deva’s educational journey began in Pune, where he pursued his bachelor's degree in Business Organizations. Even as a student, Deva was driven by a strong desire to give back to society. His first brush with the world of social work came when he searched for NGOs online, with Bhumi being one of the top results. This marked the beginning of his incredible journey with the organization.
Deva’s initial involvement with Bhumi was through the Ignite project, where he volunteered as a Mathematics teacher for underprivileged children. Despite the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, which shifted his volunteering efforts online, Deva’s commitment never wavered. He continued to volunteer, albeit less frequently, but always with the same enthusiasm and dedication.
As the world gradually returned to normalcy, so did Deva’s involvement with Bhumi. His passion for dance, which had been a significant part of his life as a cultural coordinator in college, found a new outlet through Bhumi’s De-Step project. Here, Deva took on the role of Leadership Volunteer (LB), where he used his skills to promote the art of dance among children, enriching their lives through creative expression. His leadership saw the project grow in both the number of centers and volunteers, making a lasting impact on the community.
Deva’s journey with Bhumi didn’t stop there. He expanded his horizons by taking on a role in the Nakshatra program, where he coordinated cultural and sports events, further solidifying his place as a key volunteer. His leadership and organizational skills were on full display as he helped organize and manage events that brought joy and learning to countless children.
What sets Deva apart is his relentless drive to keep growing and contributing. He didn’t just stop at one project; he continually sought out new challenges within Bhumi. His passion for dance, arts, and culture is matched only by his commitment to the betterment of society. Even as he dreams of starting his own business - a footwear line inspired by his grandfather’s legacy, Deva remains deeply connected to his roots in social work.
He is currently working full-time as a Data Operations Associate and ERG Officer at a leading healthcare?organization called Zocdoc. In his leisure time, Deva is a multifaceted individual with interests that range from dancing to painting and sketching. His love for dance has seen him participate in some of India’s largest competitions. He also enjoys traveling, with Pondicherry and Paris topping his bucket list of destinations.
Deva’s journey with Bhumi is a shining example of how passion, when combined with purpose, can lead to extraordinary outcomes. His story is not just about volunteering; it’s about finding a deeper sense of fulfilment and satisfaction in giving back to the community. Deva believes that true success lies not just in personal achievements but in the smiles he brings to others through his work at Bhumi.
