Journey of a cyberwarrior: "Worst enemy or best friend?"

Journey of a cyberwarrior: "Worst enemy or best friend?"

Welcome to.... “Journey of a Cyberwarrior”

First of all, to all my returning subscribers, thank you for joining me, and to all the newcomers: welcome!

This edition will be a little different from the one you are familiar, being in the middle of the holidays, today we’ll be focusing on something far more important than modules, classes and practical exercises.

In some ways, writing an article seems easy, we share information or knowledge from personal experiences for those who are starting this journey or for those who are already in the field for many years however, the harsh truth us writers must face are the constant critics, self-doubts, the constant questions like “am I good enough?”, “am I experienced enough to write this?”, “what would others think about this?”

In previous months I have had my share of doubts, questions, struggles with myself, inspirations came and went just as quick, perhaps I have put too much emphasis on the negative side instead of focusing on the positive, when you are focusing on the negative you lose a little piece of yourself every time in the process, the progress you make is definitely there but we don’t see it because we are overshadowing by the winning of others, whenever we accomplish something we look on social media and we see someone getting a certification, a promotion, a new position, perhaps our dream position and we think “will I ever get there?”

The answer is YES, you will get there someday, even tomorrow, you’ll never know if you don’t try, too often we see only the winning side, however, what we don’t see are struggles, failures and challenges of those who achieve those milestones went through, we judge ourself too harsh sometimes, the saying “You are your hardest critic” ?is definitely true, we underestimate too often and get demoralized too quickly, remember, everyone has it’s pace, it’s own learning curvature, no one is going to judge you if you take a break too long or too often, this process is like a formula 1 race, after the first couple of laps everyone finds it’s own pace, some quicker, some slower but everyone has its own rhythm, but such is our life.

What I encourage you today to do is to don’t lose hope, don’t lose focus, sometimes even the most adrenolytic athletes need to slow down, this does not make you weak, on contrary, it will only make your comeback stronger, those who take care of their mental and physical health often are those who have the best results, we spend hours in front of a screen, reading, learning, practicing, messing around with things, all cool stuff but don’t forget, everything has a price and the tax collector one day will come to all of us, but why don’t delay this coming instead of rushing it?

This edition is more about the importance of self confidence and taking breaks to recover, like in the gym, you may want to go everyday and push as much as you can but your muscles after the first couple of days won’t agree with you and you won’t get results, you must take breaks, let them rest and recover to see the growth, same here, take a day off, let the knowledge sink in, the next day ask yourself “What did I learned yesterday”, will you remember it?

When the next edition will come out it will be the beginning of a new year where we’ll shift into a higher gear and start strong with more advanced modules and material so with this being said, I wish you happy holidays, remember to slow down once in a while and you’ll see the progress, be patient with yourself and never stop believing in you, you can be your worst enemy or your best friend, it’s your choice who you want to choose.

Happy new year and I hope to see you all in the next edition!

Very good and inspiring article Simion Timis Taking care of ourselves is important, slowing down from time to time is not not a sin but highly recommended. May 2025 be good to you and your family. To everyone else, read the article, take it slow for the rest of the year and take care of your mental health.
