Journey On
M3 Monday Morning Message – No. 692, February 13, 2023
Today is an incredibly busy Monday, so I thought I would provide a message with a little bit of levity to get the week going (and take the easy way out for me today – thanks in advance for your understanding). My son and daughter and their spouses gifted me with tickets to the Journey concert last week. For those who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s (and even some in the 90’s), this should be a good memory trip for you. If you do not know who Journey is, do a quick web search and listen to some top hits, then this may make sense.?Here is the thank you note I sent to my kids after the concert experience:
My dear children,
I don’t know how to begin to thank you all for the gift of the concert last night. It brought back great memories. Those crazy nights, I do remember in my youth. I do recall, those were the best times, most of all.
I know I do not deserve such a great gift and such awesome kids, after all I’m Just a small-town boy livin' in a lonely world. Once I even took the midnight train goin' anywhere! The concert was so great and packed with a bunch of gray-haired people, but there were young people there too, not sure why, only the young can say.
I want to thank you for having Mom be my date as well! I was sitting beside her there in the dark, feeling her heartbeat with mine. Softly she whispered, “You're so sincere” but I couldn’t hear her because it was too loud! So, I just said, “Any way you want it. Hold on to that feelin'.”
It was such a great time, I was thinking, “Why can't this night...go on forever” but I knew in the end, the party's over and I have gone away. ?When it was over, I wanted to cry and felt heartache, but there are only so many tears you can cry 'til the heartache is over but truly for great music and a great experience I can say my love will never die as long as the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin' even though I don't know where I'll be tomorrow. Still I can’t help but wonder who's cryin' now.
Well, the concert is over and I used up your amazing gift, so now all I can do is come to you with open arms, nothing to hide, believe what I say. So here I am with open arms, hoping you'll see what your love means to me – open arms.
Alas, my true love won't desert you. You know I still love you, though we touched and went our separate ways.
