In the constant rush of life, where our days blur together like the pages of a book we forgot to read, there was a man named Shiva. He was like all of us—trying to stay afloat in a world that always seemed to want more. More work, more success, more hustle.
Shiva lived in the bustling heart of Pune, a city that never seemed to stop. Cars honked, people shouted, and the air was thick with the pressure of things left undone. He chased deadlines, meetings, promotions, always thinking, “Just one more step, and I’ll finally catch my breath.” But the finish line kept moving further away.
Sound familiar?
Deep down, something inside Shiva was changing. Beneath the noise, the traffic jams, and the chaos of his 9-to-5 (or let’s be honest, more like 9-to-9) life, a tiny voice whispered, “Is this it? Is this what life is supposed to be?” But, like most of us, he ignored it, thinking maybe the next paycheck or promotion would drown out the question. It didn’t.
?
Then, one evening, as he stood by his apartment window watching the sun set behind Pune’s skyscrapers, the voice grew louder. He realized that what he truly needed wasn’t another achievement, but something deeper, something he couldn't quite name.
And so, without much planning (or maybe it was an act of desperation), Shiva booked a trip—a place called Bhutan. He’d never really thought about going there, barely knew anything about it. It sounded like a faraway dream, not a real destination. But somehow, it happened, as if life itself was nudging him towards something he didn’t yet understand.
The moment his plane touched down in the heart of the Himalayas, something shifted. The towering mountains greeted him with a cold, crisp air that hit his face like a refreshing slap from an old friend, waking him up from a long sleep. The flutter of colorful prayer flags danced in the wind, carrying whispers of ancient wisdom, while the locals smiled at him with such sincerity that it felt like a warm hug. Bhutan had a peace about it—a kind of peace Shiva hadn’t known in years and life.
On his first morning, Shiva found himself standing at the base of a cliffside monastery. The path ahead was steep, and let’s be honest, he wasn’t exactly in shape for a mountain hike. But something inside urged him forward. With every step he took, the weight of his worries seemed to fall away. His mind, usually racing with to-do lists and deadlines, began to quiet. He couldn’t explain it, but with every footfall, he felt lighter, as if the mountains were gently helping him carry his burdens. At one point, he even laughed to himself, thinking, “I’m probably the only person who climbed a mountain to escape emails!”

When he finally reached the top, Shiva stood breathless—not just from the climb (though let’s be real, he was out of breath), but from the sheer beauty that surrounded him. The endless view of snow-capped peaks stretched out in front of him, the clouds so close it felt like he could reach out and touch them. And in that moment, something inside him clicked. He realized how small his everyday worries were compared to the vastness of the world around him.
He stood there, in silence, soaking it all in. And for the first time in a long time, his heart felt calm and tear rolling down. This—this quiet, this stillness—was what he had been missing. Life wasn’t about rushing from one task to the next. It wasn’t about the promotions or the paysheets. It was about finding moments of peace where the soul could breathe.
Bhutan didn’t just give Shiva a new place to check off his travel list. It gave him something far more valuable—a new perspective. It reminded him that sometimes, the most important journey is the one we take within ourselves. The trip he thought would be just another destination turned out to be a rediscovery of his own inner peace.

Now, Shiva knows that life isn’t a race. It’s about those moments when you can stand still, breathe deeply, and realize that everything you’ve been searching for is already within you. Sometimes, all you need is a little nudge from the mountains—and maybe a break from your phone—to remember that.
So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in the grind, or feeling drained of energy or strength, or fatigued to the point of exhaustion tired of it all, maybe it’s time for your own journey beyond the destination. Trust me, the view from the top is worth it.
Take a break, people! It’s not just about reaching your goals but about enjoying the ride. And hey, if Shiva can find peace in Bhutan, maybe you can find yours in the quiet moments you’ve been ignoring. Life’s not a race, so stop running and start living.
