The Journey of Becoming…. An Artist and A Coach

I have arrived!

Words that will remain unsaid in my dual Journey of Becoming an artist and a coach,

Bintoecause - The journey is the destination.

?

The similarities in these journeys started to emerge after a chance analogy. I compared the nuances of coaching to the delicate brush strokes and realized how both can impact the flow and the result.

This was a light bulb moment. It made me ponder on the depth of this connection and the potential it has to make the artist and the coach in me, better.

Let me take you on a deep dive into how this connection shows up for me –

Vulnerability – To start without knowing how it will end requires vulnerability, and this is true for both a blank canvas and a coaching conversation.

Curiosity and Patience – Curiosity without expectation, makes space for a deep explorative experience. Patience is paramount for the painting or the conversation to take shape and the beauty of the experience to emerge.

Authenticity is the Key – Being true to myself is the only way to be. To learn from mentors and other resources and yet show up in a way that feels most authentic in the moment, takes courage and faith. Authenticity encourages authenticity. This is reason why every artist and coach, including me, is unique, even though they may follow the same process.

Trust The Process – As I bring in my authenticity and flavour, there is trust in the process. When I bring a paint-soaked brush to paper, art will emerge. When I ask curiosity-based questions, thoughts will be explored, new perspectives will emerge. Trust in the process also means trust in myself to follow the process as an artist and a coach.

Keep At It – The more I continue on this journey, the better I get at it, whether it is becoming an artist or a coach. Every painting and every coaching session is a revelation and learning; each is distinct.

Imperfections are perfect – There is no failure, only learning. With each painting or coaching session, I learn more. Even if I consider it not good, it is good enough because I become better having gone through it.

Faith in the Fun – The reason I paint, or coach, is because I find joy in the fun I have as do both. Anytime I face the roadblock of doubt, I lean into my faith of the fun I will have and go ahead.

Win some, lose some – My painting and coaching will resonate with some and will not resonate with some. It is okay. There is nothing inherently wrong with the painting or the artist, the coaching or the coach, it is just not a match. I move on.

Acceptance & Presence – The painting and the coaching conversation can take any direction. I need to be fully present to accept whatever emerges and go with the flow.

?

The showing up as an artist and a coach, with all sincerity and authenticity is my Journey of Becoming and the Journey continues….

And I am having fun!
