Journey to the AWS- Developer Associate

Journey to the AWS- Developer Associate

In life there is alway a question of why? Well the "Why" question here would be; Why AWS? Why cloud? Well to answer the question, I has a couple of interviews between 2016-2017 and the question of "Cloud" came up. Back then I like many people had heard about Cloud but I didn't really pay any attention to it, only to have it smack me in the face.... "Twice"... So in my fashion I decided to embark on a new journey... "What is Cloud?"

I looked at CCSP and CCSK and both are good general & high level certs but I needed get my hands dirty "CCIE lab style" to understand it... I looked at Azure but honestly I am not interested in getting another microsoft cert at this moment so......next up was AWS.

AWS is the #1 public cloud platform & it has some pretty advance stuff to say the least.... ( before I thought Amazon was just a place to buy stuff online). Now the "Why is answered" we go into the fun stuff.. my steps were as follows:

1) Udemy (A Cloud Guru training)- This is a must have. I also signed up on the official site so as to get the updates first and read the excellent blogs. Method (reviewed the videos and did the labs on my AWS free account. You need to do this a few times)

2) Udemy (A Cloud Guru Developer Associate practice test). Method ( I did a practice test early on to get a feel "an yes" I failed as usual with about 46%) this identified my weak areas but I was really just warming up

3) AWS FAQs are a must. Method (Because I knew where I was weakest I knew where to start in reading, I knew which topics I needed more lab time on) honestly I don't like to read but for this exam you have to read something.

4) Another practice test or two (same idea as point 2)

5) AWS re:Invent videos. A must free source of knowledge to go deeper into various topics from the amazon experts themselves

6) Whizlabs practice test- Method (by this time able to pass all practice test but with low scores 70-80% range)

7) A detailed review of incorrect answers and research into why for the correct ones.

8) Practice test marathon with an aim to score 100% on all practice test.(Self explanatory but note I didn't get a 100% score for all even after reviewing, I even tried AWS official practice test for 20 USD for added fuel)

9) Read a little more and take notes. You must know the key points, the limits of services, get these summarised in quick notes you make..

10) Take the exam an pass. That is it.

Now as with point 2) I am just warming up.. Oh I choose the Developer track to start with because it is not something I am famaliar with and I wanted to learn something new an I really did. Now I am more interested in stuff like (JSON, Docker, Puppet, Ansible, Serverless, Linux and python which are all new to me)

"I'll be in touch" time to put in a few days with python and......

Excellent points. Reading between the lines, never rest on your success or you'll be passed over for jobs.
