Journey to AIR-6 in GATE 2023 (Aerospace)
Flying has been my passion since childhood, which encouraged me to take up the field of aerospace engineering.
When you have the clarity of what you want to do, the road starts becoming clear as you progress, and such is my GATE journey from getting AIR 303 in GATE 2022 to AIR 6 in GATE 2023. So let us begin.
Starting my preparation in July, since I was in my final year and wanted to do masters in the future, I took GATE online coaching at IITians GATE CLASSES: GATE Coaching Institute . Things started very smoothly learning about essential topics like Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Mathematics.
When my college classes started in August, that was the real test of my time management skills in balancing both college and GATE preparation. With not too much academic load and the inertia of GATE preparation since July, things were going well.
By the end of September, occupied with many responsibilities and writing a research paper in parallel, GATE preparation started lagging behind. But one thing that still helped me to remain consistent was the online classes every night and the doubt forum, which motivated me that if others are working, why not me?
By the mid of November, realizing that I was not giving the required time for GATE, after successfully presenting my paper at the 35th National Convection of Aerospace Engineers , I quit all the social gatherings, projects, and social media and focused entirely on GATE preparation.

When you really want to do something, all the stars support you. My parents were always there to support me, my seniors did help me with strategy in spite of their busy schedules, and my friends encouraged me even at odd times. Also, Dinesh Kumar Sir has always motivated me throughout these eight months; I still remember his words in the last class of Aircraft Structures, “You all have potential; just do your best.” It was the time when I still had 40 percent syllabus yet to be covered, and these lines were engraved in my mind.
From that day, I started putting my heart and soul into the preparation, faced many low times, and failed in many mock tests but didn’t stop. I gave all the mock exams on time and, analyzed it, and discussed it with my peers. I still had 10 percent of the GATE syllabus still left due to lack of time but I prepared myself that I have to do that 90 percent well.
Message:
All that I want to say is just keep working hard but in the right direction, have faith in yourself. You will be able to give your best in the examination, no matter how difficult the exam feels, no matter how much you are scoring in your mock test, how much your friends are scoring, how much syllabus is still left.
There are many hurdles that will come in your life, but the key is to stay consistent and never give up. From regret of getting good marks in JEE Advanced to cracking GATE under AIR 10 is a real testimony that if you believe, you can achieve!!
All the best!!
